Okay, this is the story of how I became a Deputyx2 fan.

I posted a thread about a ride-along I had gone on with a friend, where he told me I must not close my eyes when the car was going very fast. He didnt tell me why, so I asked on Ask a Cop.

You got kind of annoyed by my dumb question and said so. JerryMacauley got ticked off at you getting ticked off, and commented. I believe PMs were also exchanged.

Then you PMed me, and I realized that you are actually an exceptionally nice person, and I became a fan. :)

I used to see this forum as a place where I could not only discuss police-related matters, but also BS with friends as I would in real life. It's entirely possible that I was out of line. It's entirely possible that I am too old, tired and broken to be able to enjoy the casual banter exchanged between members. It's entirely possible that the focus of this forum is being lost in some of the ramblings of some of the members on here.

I honestly don't know which of these things is true - or even if ANY of these things is true. Take my comments or leave them. I don't care.

I just came back from a bike ride, and now I'm gonna take my kayak, load it into the back of my truck and head down to the lake. 'Cause it's sunny and 70 degrees outside - and there's not gonna be many days like this for a long while to come - and it's far too nice to be sitting in my home office playing on the internet.

My personal feeling is that as long as it's kept in the Off-Duty forum, and as long as we're not butting into serious police discussions with our casual banter, then its not changing the focus of this forum. I acknowledge your differing opinion and will take it into consideration.

Yes, I agree that DD is high on sincerity. You know she says what she means, and you never have to wonder how she really feels about something. And I often have to admire the way she expresses herself, even when she's being disgusting, and talking about using dead skin as chips for pus dip. :D

You are absolutely right I'm in a bad mood. I don't log on for quite a while, and I find out that dissenters are being banned right and left just for expressing unpopular opinions. I can't believe all the uproar over that banana boy/metco-puke guy, as if he could personally affect anyone's life over here. Same thing happened to Guitar Cop and all his other IDs.

I'm sure I'll be next, since I am expressing an unpopular opinion, but frankly I don't care at this point. You people are far too sensitive, especially when good guys like hounddog and Tennsix get banned along with the pot-stirrers.

Whatever happened to good old debate? I thought this place was a forum for discussing and debating different ideas and sharing opinions. It looks more like a junior high school locker room these days, with all the drama and histrionics. Guys like Guitar Cop and metcopuk keep it interesting.

Yeah, there's been a lot of tension around here lately and I think it's getting to all of us. My way of dealing with it is to start some mindless chatter, and that makes me feel a little better. But ranting is good too. ;)

I do wish we could debate issues without getting mad at each other and heading for the Report Bad Post button, but at the same time, some people do say hurtful things (not referring to Tennsix) and make people want to stay away from the forum. I think they deliberately cross the line to start controversy. I'm kind of on the fence about that whole banning issue.
