I've got a quick question for anyone who's LAPD. First off let me start by saying you guys are the best of the best. I've got a good friend of mine in the academy right now and so far the training he's gotten is amazing. When I go for the physical, can the Dr DQ me or does LAPD brass DQ me? If it's the brass who has the final say do they take past experiences into consideration?

I can't say with certainty, but I believe the doctors have certain criteria that if you have some type of ailment or injury that falls into that criteria, they could DQ you. However, I believe that the "Powers that be" still have the final authority over who gets hired and who gets DQ'ed.

If you want a more definitive answer, I would contact the recruitment folks or the Personnel folks and ask them.

Regarding the person you know currently in the academy, was he a VA officer back there in Connecticut?
