thought I would bump this thread, because I am wondering the same thing. Mailing out my application, and the $45.00 check. Does anybody know any of the following?

1. Will Elkhorn be hiring, considering the possible annexation?
2. Any idea on how many hires there are usually?
3. Will most of the agencies hiring out of MAPA, hire somebody uncertified, and put them through the academy?

Thanks for any info.

2. Any idea on how many hires there are usually?
Depends on the amount of qualified people. In my opinion all MAPA does is sort out the wanna be's from the dedicated. If you are willing to drop 45 bucks and take a retarded test that a monkey could pass then most depts will give you a look or what your potential could be. The amount of hires really depends on what each agency is looking for. When I went through basic there were about 10 MAPA agency trainee's, if that gives you any idea.

3. Will most of the agencies hiring out of MAPA, hire somebody uncertified, and put them through the academy?
Again goes back to who's qualified. There's some pretty horrendous certified people out there, while I know of some uncerts that I'd like to see work with me.

Check the newspapers they do something like this in the Grand Island area. The only thing is they don't charge you the $45. Normally

Dawson County
Hall County
Buffalo County
Kearney Police
Hastings Police

Are on this hiring list.

I'm sorry if that's offensive, but S*** man I took that test and stood there listening to people say how this is the 6th time they've taken MAPA and hopefully this time they will pass and how blah, blah, blah, blah..........Then came the physical test and I WATCHED people FAIL to get their fat, dumb a@@ over a 6' chain link fence. It wasn't like they had to scale a five story buidling.

It just made me shudder to think that my brother METRO LEO'S would have these moron's for back up on hot calls.

Does any one know if Bellevue will be hiring anytime soon? I plan on taking the MAPA in Feb. They say there are usually somewhere around 300 people that show up. How do those numbers usually turn out i.e. 300 show, 150 pass, 70 get apps, 35 respond, 1-2 are excepted, and 1 makes it through the psych, med, BI process?

I took it for the first time in August, so my info on the issue is very limited at best but you can check out MAPA's website and all the scores are posted there so you can see how many took the test and how many pass/failed. I hope Bellevue will be hiring as well too, I think already this year Bellevue hired three new officers. So hope this helps.

I almost got hired at Bellevue, before Omaha, and I liked the 12 hour shift schedule....that's about it.
Call and ask someone at Bellevue....they answered my questions when I called there a few years back....
