I am new to the forums so please forgive me, I know this is very long winded.
I am 28 years old, a CJA Graduate and (of course) looking to get hired. Never done drugs, never been arrested, detained, even had a parking or speeding ticket, no record whatsoever. Worked for the same employer (major US company) for over 10 years, and I am in college for my Homeland Security Degree. All American. Want nothing more then to serve my community (I live in Central Florida).
Below is a list of the personal challenges I have questions about.
When I was 16 I worked at a local movie theater. Some of the older crowd I was hanging with (bad immature decision) decided to steal a purse a lady left in a theater we were cleaning. Long story short, I got fired for it. The police were not involved, and I fessed up to what happened. It was stupid, I was 16 and it is the only time I have ever been disciplined in all my work experience.
About 4 years ago my at the time fiancé and I had an all out argument. Just yelling, no contact, argument. Well, it got loud enough that LE was called. The deputy was very nice and advised us that one of us should leave. My fiancé lied and told the officer that "I would not allow her to leave" which was just BS. He said if she wanted to leave she could. She left and in doing so, told the officer I had firearms and was afraid I might harm myself (yea, she was so nice, she just wanted to tick me off). The officer again was very nice and stated he would like to remove the firearms for 10 days to which I allowed. Subsequently we worked things out (like 2 days later) and she retuned home. I of course got my guns back too.
About 2 years later (almost 2 years ago) the same lady (now my wife) became very violent. She was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and refused to get help, take meds or anything else. Not being able to take it any longer (the abuse, violence, throwing things, ect…) I got an injunction for domestic violence. Several days went past and she was allowed to pick-up some of her items. Her parents came along with a moving van and asked the deputies to ask if I would allow her to get all of her belongings if she did not stay. I said yes and even helped them. The officers made several comments that I was really going out of my way to be nice and this was not what they usually seen...
Well, then all H*LL broke loose. The NEXT DAY she decided to retaliate and get one against me. She had no reason other then to get back at me. She knows I am active with my guns (which I of course had to get rid of for the time) have a canceled weapons permit (which was suspended for the time) and that I want to get into LE. She completely lied and everything she wrote on the injunction was made up. We went to court a few days later and the judge simply said he was not making it permanent, but not dropping it. He extended it bearing the fact we were getting divorced and said it could be dropped in the divorce process (my attorney later explained that was to protect himself if one of us went nuts) In any case my ex violated the order, called, apologized, and a couple days later we went to the court house and had them both dropped. We were done and just wanted to get on with our lives, knowing the injunctions would just get in the way.
Next (if you are still reading this, thank you)
My mother is very ill. My father passed away when I was 8 (not trying to give you a sob story, comes into play in a moment) and we have no family. My mother for a long time had no health insurance, could not get social security, or any kind of state/federal healthcare. She also could not work and was a dependent on my taxes. Long story short, I had to cover everything medical, living expenses (she lived with me), everything. Unfortunately, there were times I had to use credit to cover food, or anything else we needed (I am not going to lie there were a few times I bought something that was not completely "needed" I am sure). As a result, after my mother was finally approved for social security, I had to file bankruptcy (about 2 years ago). I am not proud of it, and am actually very, very ashamed. Since then I have never been late or had any financial problems whatsoever. There was just no way I could catch-up or pay off the bills I had. And yes, I tried. It was just a very bad situation.
I have two questions. First, will all of the above situations come out in the BI? Second, how much damage will they do? I feel like they are all viable, and all are very explainable, no excuses, no lying. Just explainable.
For 28 years I don’t think this is bad, is it?
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
