I live 35 mins north of Jacksonville SO. Its one of the premier agencies in Florida. Most offices who start there, retire within in the agency. They have very low turnover. They do require a two year degree however. There are a lot of oppurtunties for off duty work, and many local apartment complexs rent to the officers free of charge. I have never heard anything bad, only good.

That 2 year degree deal is for the birds, man. The recruiters there are begging for their chief to get rid of it, or at least waive it for someone with good experience, like 5 years.
I have 20 in in Pa. and have wanted to get in there for 5 years, but they'll never get rid of it. I'm also Florida certified, but according to what the recruiter told me, "Our Chief dosn't think your a cop unless you have a degree".
News flash, they're missing out on a lot of good, experienced officers.
