I can check all the maps in the world, but advice is best from someone who actually knows.
What is the best route to take, travelling from LAX (Budget car rental) to Twin Towers and back?
I've been there on extraditions and have not had good experiences with LA traffic.

We'll generally arrive about 0800, and leave about 1600... We'd love to get them transported to San Diego and let us pick them up from there.

Yahoo maps offers a good way to get there and you really can't miss the buildings when you get off the 101 on Broadway. Watch those exits off the 101 though, they were built for Model T Fords and are nearly 90 degree exits.
FWIW, their is no good experience w/ LA traffic. Depending what time of day it is it could be a 20 minute drive or an hour drive.

It is 29 miles between the airport and jail. It takes 1 1/2 hours to commute that distance (incliding getting the rental), 1 hour to get the prisoner, 1 1/2 hours back.
I had a mapquest, msn, yahoo, and agoogle map to work from. One street they had me on was for only 193 feet, and I had to cross three lanes!
Where I live, 30 miles is 30 minutes on a slow day.

Like Samuel said, I think the best way is the 105E to the 110N to the 101. We regularly have to interview susp's downtown. Thats the way we go. It wont be that bad. Take the carpool and you'll be fine.

The car pool lanes on the 105 and especially the 110 are your friend and will save you so much time, regardless of time it is. Although sometimes getting there is only half the battle. I have waited at times almost an hour just to interview an inmate. This is AFTER I have identified myself and am waiting in an interview room at the facility...
