The medical invite letter states that the processing will consist of a "thorough" medical exam. Disqualifying factors for the medical are any physical infirmities. It also states that there will be a modifed PAT consisting of push-ups and sit-ups. Same standards as before but you probably should be doing more at this point. Also, the letter states to report for the processing in gym clothes.

You perhaps should re-read the letter. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, just got a notice from the state police that i've been invited to the one-day processing for my final medical! Before going, I have to have my vision, dental, general physical, and chest x-rayed and bring in signed reports from the examining doctors.

Is the final medical an administrative day just to make sure I have all my paperwork or do they retest everything again? Are they going to test hearing, vision, genitals, flexibility, etc again even though my doctor already tested? Also, do they usually do your physical fitness stuff again like the run, situps, pushups, etc?

Part of the reason I want to know is because, well, I always want to be prepared. Also, I want to know what attire to wear, professional or gym clothes?

Much appreciated!

You are in the NYSP thread asking the same questions. I presumed you were referring to the NYSP Final Medical Exam for 11/18. By the way, I don't think my candidate medical invite letter is different from yours. That would be strange.

You should probably specify what state police agency you are processing with. In any event, good luck!

thanks for your reply diesel! also, it's not for NYSP, but for another state police agency and that info was not given believe it or not.

Any word on how many candidates processed for the final medical and successfully passed for the NYSP Jan. 2007 academy?
