Just curious who has the most years on one department and still active. We have an officer that has been with our department since 1948 and still going strong. Do you know of any one with more seniority?

We have a mandatory retirement age of 57, so I don't think we will be touching that guy's seniority.

It must be nice to get Christmas off every year. :D

Wow, 58 years!! that's a die hard cop. I think we have a few that have around 35 years but they will be gone in a few more.

If my math is correct, this officer would have to be around 80 years old. Just out of curiosity, what type of work is he still able to do for a police department?

Do you know of any one with more seniority?I read about a Milwaukee PD lieutenant a few years back that was something like 88 and still working full time, with sixty years on the job, all with the same department. He worked in the evidence room. He died a couple of months after retiring.

Det. John P. "Jigsaw" St. John worked for the LAPD for 51 years, and carried LAPD shield No. 1. He worked on the Black Dahlia murder in 1947. This case is the basis for the movie that is out now. There was a TV show based on St. John's character at one time, called "Jigsaw John." St. John also died within a few months of retirement.

So far as I know, the Milwaukee lieutenant is the record holder, but there could be someone else I don't know about.
