I graduate from college December 07, and I want to pursue a career with the SBI. However, when I graduate i was thinking of becoming a Security Forces Officer for four years and then pursue the SBI or FBI. Do u think this could help me obtain that goal?

What is the "SBI?"
What is a "Security Forces Officer?" Are you talking about law enforcement functions of the military, e.g. Military Police, Masters-at-Arms, Security Police, etc? Is there some other "Security Forces" organization that has escaped my notice?

SBI = State Bureau of Investigations (NC has one, I'm not sure where else)
I believe that a security forces officer is basically military police at an air force installation, just they're more versatile than military police.

I think dispatrcher63 nailed it. Security Forces Officer (http://www.militarygi.com/view/item/1747) As for SBI, on one of my trips to Georgia my wife's cousin (a Deputy with Chatham County SO) mentioned "SBI", and I found out he was refering to the G(eorgia)BI, so yea, SBI in his cayse could be NCBI.

Good luck to you in whatever you choose.
If I can offer some advice, try to be more articulate when you communicate in written form, believe it or not, it's a VERY important skill in any kind of Law Enforcement.
Your post left me scratching my head too. Realise that everyone isn't from where you're from and don't use the same slang terms (for instance, Texas has no "SBI"). If mentioning something like Security Forces Officer, remember everyone isn't in the military. Name the service you're talking about.
Know your audience.

I thought that "SBI" could be some variation on "State Bureau of Investigation," but I wasn't sure.
Most state-level investigative services look for proven law enforcement experience in their applicants, which means they come from local LE agencies. There are certainly exceptions, but you will need to have some relatively unique skill they want. The same is true of the FBI, but more so. The FBI hires people with only four-year degrees, but to be competitive without a graduate degree, you need a skill that they want, such as fluency in a foreign language, scientific expertise, experience in accounting (many federal cases are made by "following the money"), or something like that. The FBI likes law degrees and other grad degrees. You will find their hiring process to be extremely competitive.

a security forces officer would be someone in security forces who is a commissioned officer. security forces are like army mp's (police/infantry)

A Security Forces Officer in the AF WILL NOT be doing what one things of in terms of Investigations or Patroling a base. That job belongs to enlisted folks.
Officers help run the actual SF Operations. They may (stressing may) work as a duty officer some night. But, most bases that I know of, have a enlisted person cart them around.....and occasionally an elisted member will let the play with the lights and the sirens..... :D

I was an SPLE from 85-90 unless things have changed the officers did not work the desk. In a sqaudron of 350 we had 3 commissioned officers; a Lt. Col (Chief of Security Police), a Captain (Operations Officers) and a 1LT (Asst. Ops Officers). They were not Shift Commanders and did not go out on patrol or to calls. That was done entirely by enlisted. With the Senior NCO's running each flight (shift)
