OK, I've recently applied for a job in Florida and just got the application. I've got 14 years on the job and it's just time for a change. Plus, the wife and kids think it's a great idea.

Anyway, the application asks a serious of questions for current or previous officers. The one in particular asks: "Have you ever engaged in a sexual act with someone while on duty?" Here's the situation:

I work the mid-shift (8p-6a) and one night a few months ago we had low-light weapons qualifiations. It started at 7pm. We finished up about 2 1/2 hours later. The Lt. told us all to go on back home S!*&, Shower, and Shave and be back to the patrol room in one hour, and it's ok to stay out of service 'til we get back to the PD.

Well, I'm in the shower about 15 minutes later, get out and the wife was looking pretty good. Needless to say, relations took place. I made it back to work about 2 mintutes before our hour was up. How does one answer THAT question??? I really want to send this back in because the department I have in mind would be great to work for. Any advice will be great!

if you were considered on-duty then i would answer the question in the affirmitive. i would then explain the situation thoroughly. i am sure they are looking more along the lines of whether or not you were engaging in inappropriate activities in the rear of the cruiser. or perhaps stopping by that "girlfriends" house on-duty if you know what i mean. while maybe not the totally right thing to do, your situation should not draw more than a slight pause from a background investigator. your 14 years on the job should also help. in short, i would disclose it but not sweat it.

What he said. Just tell them about it...they won't care about that.

I doubt anyone would have a problem with your actions. I'm sure they are after activity involving the general public, or even other officers. Not your spouse.
