Omaha Hiring Freeze

I saw on the news last night that the city of Omaha is employing a hiring freeze until the end of the year and no large city purchases are to be made. So I was just wondering if anyone that was applying with OPD has heard anything that might affect their hiring process. I know the academies are next year, but I was just curious if the process has also been frozen or if you guys are progressing as scheduled. Good luck to all of you!

WOW, that's bad. They did the same thing a few years back and canceled a class and the list expired. Hopefully that will not happen this time and everyone who's meant to be hired will be hired.

I haven't heard anything yet about that, I am waiting on my letter from the video test and to get our rankings. I hope since the academy isn't slated until next year that it won't effect these classes, but I guess we adapt and continue on.

It just means that the city can't hire anyone for the rest of the year......the next academy would probably be in Feb.....which is next year ;)
This will not affect anything within OPD hiring process........keep on keepin' on.

This is good to know, because I have not applied anywhere else since Omaha, perhaps I will apply with Mapa in feb, but hopefully we get the rankings soon, and I won't need to.
