I do not know how extensive of a research my agency did when the recall of Zylon-based body armor came about but they ended up going with U.S. Armor Corporation, replacing all Second Chance products.

Late to the party.
I wear armor from a company called PT armor. easily the best armor I have ever worn. Good prices too. I was quoted at something like 465.00 for IIIA.
Good luck.

I've worn both U.S. Armor and PT Armor. I've been happy with both products. If you're doing this long distance, I would lean toward U.S. Armor. I had my measurements taken at a dry cleaner and sent in. U.S. Armor did a better job of fitting me than the various vest manufacturers who had company reps take the measurements.

To start, I hate wearing a vest, but I don't go on the road without it! I wear an "Extreme" available through Streichers, and it's about as comfortable as I've found. About $650.00, so it's not too bad.

My dept. issues US Armor. Ive had second chance and one other one and I like the US Armor the best...
