OKC PD Hiring?

Just wondering if Oklahoma City is in need of officers or what there hiring is like?

I read somewhere here that they were hurting for qualified applicants, I actully just took the phys and am now on the background step. Im an out of state applicant from Florida, were I am stationed now in the Army, an MP and a recruiter here. I am originally from there and graduated from Moore High in 99. Ready to get out in a few months and I want to move back home. Other than 1 speeding ticket 6 years ago and a seat belt ticket I got on the way back from Oklahoma for the PT test!! I would say I have a spotless record, got college, military, perfect credit, no finance troubles, no criminal record no drugs, I am just hoping that all this effort and traveling will be worth it.

I heard that alot of people apply but how many do they actully hire?

Anyone know how out of state applicant fair in the process?

I cant afford to apply to any one else like Moore, Edmond, Yukon because they only hire one or 2 at a time, and with those chances its not worth the cost of travel back in forth.

We have an academy currently under way but its a little more than halfway done...I think. The usual class size is 45-50 at the start of the academy. Some will quit, others will get injured and recycled but we dont lose many. It sounds like you have a lot of desireable qualities. The dept hires a lot of military guys because of the discipline and organizational skills. I dont see a speeding or seatbelt ticket holding you back.
If you are still in decent shape there shouldnt be a problem with the PT.

Why not try working for the PD @ 911...We have had lots of people that work here and then go to the streets...if ur intereted pm me and ill give u the info

There are a couple of threads already on here that follow a couple of us through the academy. If you look for NUPE1911, you can see what he/she went through, they kept a pretty good "journal" of the process.

Ya thanks for all the help ill look into those other threads, after starting off as a corrections officer for OCSO and being an MP now I want to stay on the road, but thanks for the help osutrooper!
