Hello all. I'm hoping to make it through the first round of cuts (physical fitness, written test, MMPI) and make it to the Oral Board. Assuming I make it I want to be as prepared as possible.
Last time I applied for a job with a police department I screwed up my oral board. I was prepared for the wrong thing. I went in there expecting the usual "why do you want to be a cop", "what will you bring to the department", "what are your strengths/weakness", etc etc. They ended up asking me questions like who the mayor of the town was, how big of an area that they covered, things like that. I never expected anything like that. I hadn't even moved into VT yet so I knew next to nothing about the area other than I liked it. My wife would be going to school at UVM so it was a sure thing that we were moving there so it's not like I was just applying to completly random departments that were hiring.
If I make it to the oral board for the Troopers I do not want to make the same mistakes. But I also can only hold so much information in my brain, especially when sitting infront of 3 guys that can make or break my dream.
So if anyone has gone through the oral board for VT State Trooper or are a State Trooper I would greatly appreciate any words of wisdom you have for me.
(PS This was also posted elsewhere in this forum, but it was suggested that I post it here too, so sorry for the extra postings.)
