Why isnt this state hiring any damn police officers!!!???!!

Huge numbers of police officers were hired in the 1960's and 1970's, mostly Vietnam vets who were replacing the retiring WWII vets. Now, the Vietnam vets have mostly retired, and have been replaced by Gulf War & Iraq War vets.

Don't limit yourself to state & city/town PD's....apply to every PD you can think of (housing police, college & university PD's, railroad police, uniformed Federal agenices, police positions through the state that aren't the state police, etc.), and take whatever is offered first. You can always "upgrade" later.

For the Feds, the series code for park ranger is 0025, police is 0083, security is 0085, and criminal investigator is 1811.

I always thought it was b/c they were just too stingy w/money, since tons of funding has been dropped from state LE orgs....i have applied to tons of jobs - fed and local - so now its a waiting game...thanks for the sites!

it's a civil srevice system which is once every two years ..the next written exam is April 2007. this will blow your mind..it will cost you $75 for the application fee .
