They have been on a hiring freeze since June. They might have expedited your application since you are from out of town. I know they already have their testing dates set. I would be surprised if that January class is still open since they already had a class picked to start in June.(I think) I started in May and we expected a class to be right behind us. Good luck with everything
well im surprised also that the january class is open as well, but i dont know why the recruiter would tell me im eligible for the january class if its not open

Well, I submitted the application in May and took the written in August, Just took my PAT last week. for the january classes. One reason they might be in a hurry is that one of the recruiting officers is changing positions in the department to internal affairs. Maybe they want to wrap up any open applications.
Hey rx,
do u have any advice for the PAT test?? how did it go??? What were most people's times in the 1.5 mile run. Thier max time of 1218 seems to be one of the lowest allowed times of most testing departments

Sorry it took so long to reply. Well, I was the third fasted of about 8 people. I ran a 12:01 and I smoke cigarettes. The run was difficult but not the most difficult part of the test. I prepared for a few weeks doing the situps pushups and running but not back to back. Thats where I ran into trouble. I was 6 short on the situps and I think 4 short on the pushups. I had no trouble with the trunk flex either.
Good luck.

Have you heard anything yet about the academy??? Are you trying to get hired by the county and sent through, or are you just expecting to do the open enrollment. I am worried about paying bills and quiting a full time job, finding my own health insurance, and not being garunteed a job. that is if i get accepted through the open enrollment process

1. I haven't heard anything after I took the PAT.
2. I was going through open enrollment procedure.
3. I too am concerned about the financial aspect of being jobless during attendace at CMPA. I have support from my family though as my Grandmother and Uncle have offered financial support. I also have some savings and my retirement which I might have to cash in. I am going to do what it takes to get through the process. Also I was told by one of the recruiting officers, "The hiring happens within the first few weeks of attendance of CMPA.
Please tell me your situation.
Thanks,
Karl
