I have a Charter Arms (Charter 2000) Bulldog .44 special that I bought used a few years ago. My father has been using it as a car gun for the last couple of years but brought it back to me recently because he felt there was some play in the crane and in the cylinder at full lock that shouldn't be there. I called Charter Arms and was told that they would repair whatever it needed for $34.95 + parts.

So, I sent it in and also sent a note asking that they do a little other work for me if they could. I wanted them to replace the regular hammer with a spurless one, fit it with their smallest boot grips (the ones from the Off-Duty model), and try to smooth and lighten the trigger for me. I mentioned that I was LE and would like those changes to make it a more useable BUG/off-duty piece.

I called them after about a week and spoke to a guy that said he ran the shop. We discussed the gun a bit and he said that they try to take care of LEO's and he'd fix me up and wouldn't charge me anything and that is exactly what he did. They went through the gun completely, replaced what parts were needed, swapped hammers, cleaned up the action, and even ground down the grip frame to fit the really small boot grips. When I got it back it was exactly what I asked for and it is better than it was before - much more concealable and smoother. Plus, for me, it points better with the smaller grips. I've been carrying it for a couple of weeks and love it.

So, don't dismiss Charter Arms because of price or their guns being a little rough around the edges. They make a quality, reliable product that'll do just what they claim, all day long and they are LEO friendly, that means alot to me.

This isn't the first time I've heard glowing remarks about the new Charter Arms company. Great to hear.

Next...I LOVE your thoughts of what you did to the gun. Got pics?????? :D
