World's Scariest Police Chase on PS1 was kind of fun haha bit stupid but fun nonetheless. Though it's not really a cop game, but I like when you could play in Need for Speed older versions you could be the cop trying to catch the speeders.

I used to love playing Swat4 multi-player, it's a blast. Got sick of the same 10 or so maps though, are there any new ones?

Started with the old school Police Quest games...Those are probably the most realistic police games to date.

Went to SWAT 2, then to SWAT 3. Got tired of thinking how much cooler it would be with this or that, joined a mod (modification team) and went from the silly looking motorcycle helmet wearing swat goons to realistic looking officers.

Still, to this day, if I could make one game, it would be a GTA: San Andreas equivalent to a police game. You start with your guy in the character creation mode. The Acadamy is a tutorial, etc etc...gain rank, you have access to cooler stuff (Unmarked cars, plain clothed details...etc)

I really need to send a letter to Rockstar Games or something.

Also, XBOX360 - Rainbow Six: Las Vegas, unreal game.

The Shield is finally out, but only for PS2, and I think PC. Us XBox players are SOL I guess. From what I've read about it, it's not very good, unless you're a fan of the show.

True Crime NYC is decent. You continuously have the good cop/bad cop option, you can pat anyone down, if they have drugs you can take it to evidence, or plant it on someone else, etc... Best part though, you're undercover and you can totally run amok, steal cars, ram police cars, punch other officers and random people, and when the police come after you, flash your badge at them and they say "Oh, you got a badge? It's okay then." and they leave you alone. Nothing like professional courtesy!

Looks kinda like what you just described. Sched for release sometime in 2007 and early 2008 for the xbox 360. I'll probably buy it for pc cause I don't want to wait.

It's an MMOG, it'll probably suck, I haven't seen another massively multiplayer cop game, so it'll take the first version for them to figure out what all the problems are.

I dont like many video games that host Police related content because the amount of animation that is put into it when terminating a police officer. Christ, does it really need to look that "real" ? - Just an IMO.

I play Counter-Strike a lot. Counter Terroists, Win.

I don't like to see that either, BUT, you have to take the bad with the good. Realistic graphics make the games great. If anything bothers me, it's not the realistic graphics of killing a police officer, it's the fact that killing cops is a big part of some games to begin with.

I've been playing "The Godfather", I recommend it. Not really police related, but you do kill a lot of gangsters.

New Game Called "All Points Bulletin" for Xbox360.

Background:
APB brings players into a living, breathing city where cash is king and territory equals respect. In a fight to dominate the expansive world of APB, players must decide which side of the law to abide by, as Law Enforcement who take on the challenge of supporting and safeguarding justice, or as Gangs, who operate against the law and any opposing groups by any means necessary. APB will provide players with ultimate customization options from their weapons, vehicles and clothes to their attitude, music and environment.

Gameplay:
All Points Bulletin (APB) is a massively multiplayer online freeform combat and driving-based game (Hybrid-MMOG) APB(All Points Bulletin) is a complete free style game based on the real world. Players have to choose whether to be on the ‘Law Enforcement’ or the ‘Gang’. To be good or bad, it is your choice.

Features:
# UNRESTRICTED LIBERTY, ULTIMATE FREEDOM APB is a genre-breaking game unlike any other in the MMOG market in which Gangs commit crimes and Law Enforcement try to stop them, resulting in dramatic chases, shoot-outs, busts, escapes and arrests. A wide range of action-based activities are supported. Those winning an encounter gain status and cash, and the cash can be spent on advanced weapons, vehicles and other kits. Players can carry out these activities individually, or band together into groups.
# PERSISTENT TURF WAR Both Gangs and Law Enforcement will continuously attempt to capture key areas of the city and expand their spheres of influence. These ‘turf areas’ offer access to the best gear, while persistently displaying their owner’s status and symbols. Territory is vulnerable 24/7, with players constantly engaged in battles for control. For periods when they are not online, players must upgrade their defenses changing turf features or equipping AI adequately or run the risk of losing their turf to a rival Gang or Squad. Capturing multiple turf areas gets progressively harder, but provides correspondingly better rewards.
# FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE GAMING EXPERIENCE Gangs of APB live and breathe graffiti, attitude, customized cars and earning cash any way possible. Law Enforcement up holds honor, teamwork, advanced weapons, and the destruction of the Gangs. Players will determine how their characters live and grow in the APB world without typical MMOG leveling-up constraints. They’ll create the ultimate customized online experience with vehicles, weapons, clothes, music, attitude, and environment. From tailoring characters’ looks to creating catalogues of shared elements to defining their identity, every crew can have a unique, custom look from hair and clothing down to the way they walk, talk and the music they play.
