I've got a couple buddies who work for KCK. Both have remarked on how much of a positive transformation the city has been going through the past 10 years or so.

KCK is much smaller than KCMO, but still a very active department. They have all the special squads, etc. Pay is decent for the area. Lot's of overtime. Opportunities to work both in a "big city" and "rural" atmosphere as they are a county PD.

KCMO I don't know much about the PD, except that the locals like to shoot at them alot.

Hope that helps in some small way!

Lol I see.. Well, I'm trying to analyze all of my options... Perhaps I'll just apply to both and take whichever hires me..

Thanks =)

This is just me.....but if I was still in the area....and was looking for a PD....I would apply on the KS side with OP, Lenexa, Prairie Village, Leawood, Olathe, or any other place in Johnson County (not sure about the Sheriff's Office as they had some issues over the last year or so)....

Very well paid, lots of toys, not getting shot at everyday (like KCPD or KCK) but active........

I"m A recruiter for kckpd, D.C. is sadly mistaken on his facts about kckpd.
Our pay and equipment is second to none in the area. We are union, active I might add. If you desire to be a police officer with the opportunity to do POLICE work, log on to our web site @ www.kckpd.org

I still stand by what I say.....and I am not going to agency bash....

I have worked with (not for) KCK before and unless things have changed in the last 6 months, I am still telling folks to go to JO County and work over KCK anyday.....

KCK is a VERY busy department. PLENTY of hoodlums. As for working "big city" and "rural" and them being a county PD, that is incorrect.

Wyandotte County is a Unified Government, but there is a still a Sheriff's Office and the City PD. There are also 2 other city PD's in the county. The entire county is incorporated and about 90% Kansas City, KS (Bonner Springs and Edwardsville are the other 2 cities).

The county takes care of the jail but they have a handful of road deputies also.

Just wanted to clarify.....
