View Full Version : In NJ, civilian lives are worth less than govt. lives.

I just finished reading the fine points of NJ's recent "personalized gun" legislation and I can't believe it.

"Personalized gun" is the current euphamisim for "Smart guns". According to the law that was signed 12/02, 3 years after the DELIVERY of at least ONE production model of a "personalized handgun" in ANY state, any handgun that is not a "personalized gun" will not be allowed to be sold.

BTW, there is no mention that the gun delivered to set the clock in motion actually has to work.

Initially, the bill did not except LE/Govt. use. However, LE in NJ, correctly, protested, saying that the technology is not reliable. So they were exempted. But civilians are not. Further, the law exempts the state from being sued when the technology fails and someone gets killed.

Gun grabbers in NJ did the "for the children" bit, despite the fact that accidental gun deaths in the US fell from 500 in 1975 to 80 in 2000. And NJ had ZERO children killed by handgun accidents in 1998 and 1999 (latest stats available).

It is odd that the Governor finds a technology that is not reliable enough to be used by his state police bodyguards, but thinks it's sufficient for you..........of course he won't take responsibility for that either so don't plan to sue him.

Typical of the anti-gun culture of the Northeast.

It doesnt have to make any sense to be law escpecially when dealing with guns.

The data also shoots down the "40 children a day" mantra put out by HCI and their allies.

Kind of ironic that the initial target audience for "smart guns" were police officers. Colt Firearms got millions from the Clinton Justice Dept. trying to develop a "smart gun" for LE use.

So now, everyone EXCEPT cops will have to use this junky scheme.

You are all forgetting that the Second Ammendment specifically states that:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, as long as they utilize smart weapon technology, and are kept out of the hands of law abiding citizens via a restrictive permitting process and carrying laws, shall not be infringed.

Even the DoJ says the best they can do with "smart guns" is 80% reliable........ how "smart" is something that only works 80% of the time anyway?

80% aint very much.

What if Nuclear plants were only 80% reliable? Would you feel comfortable living beside one?

What if your gun shot only 80% of the time? Could you even qualify on the range ?

What if your toilet only flushed 80% of the time ?

You get the drift...

If we line up 100 percent of the politicians and shoot them with smart guns, the remaining 20 percent will get the idea, won't they?

You know, strangely, that idea makes sense Mike.

I think I'm hanging around you too much.

There is a good side to the smartgun....

...we can now include it on the list of oxymorons.

FYI: The term SmartGun was trademarked by Mossberg a few years ago.

The Northeast doesn't have a stranglehold on liberal gun ideas............just move a few klicks to the west.

Don't even get me started on California.

After growing up in Pennsylvania, living in Kansas and Texas and then returning to Michigan, I long for a friendlier state.

All you Texans can be quiet........I wasn't smart enough to stay. What a waste I am..........though I can always spread the word. <sigh>
