I would be curious to see who they are suing and who is supporting the defense.

Are they suing Hi-Point and Lorcin?

What about Glock, Remington, Bushmaster, Winchester, HK?

Do they differentiate between guns commonly used by criminals and avoid those that are commonly used by LE?

This is about as asinine as the McDonald's coffee lawsuit.

<strong>The opinion added that a "reasonable trier of fact could find that the criminal misuse of guns to kill persons were occurrences that defendants knew would result or were substantially certain to result from the defendants' alleged conduct here."</strong>

That's just brilliant. So now every car manufacturer is liable for making a product that they know will be operated by intoxicated individuals.

Every camera manufacturer is liable for making a product that they know will be used in the creation of child pornography.

Every phone company is liable for maintaining a system that is used by criminals to communicate their intent to commit crimes between one another.

Every ski-mask maker is liable for making a product that will be used by criminals to conceal their identity during the commission of a crime.

Every light bulb manufacturer is liable for making a product they know will be used for indoor marijuana growing.

I could go on, but let's hear some other brilliant ideas.

How about the makers of Leggs PANTYHOSE....often used by BANK ROBBERS?

OR....Bic lighters....often used by crack users, arsonists, etc?

Oh, HERE's a good one: WATER. How many moms have used this substance to murder their children in the past couple of years?

Idiots....

I can't wait to see how cities figure out a way to sue water. But I'm sure there's a lawyer sleazy enough to do it.

This is similar to the people who are suing tobacco companies.

Well, those lawsuits are BS as well. Any judge who allows a tobacco lawsuit to proceed is incompetant.

As far as the gun lawsuits, there is no case. The guns did exactly what they were supposed to do. It's the users who are defective. Why can't we start suing people for raising criminal children?

If due to a proven manufacturing defect a firearm fails to work or blows up I could understand a product liability suit. If the firearm performs as advertised a lawsuit is ridiculous.

"the manufacturers, distributors and dealers failed to alter their actions,"

Alter their actions in what way? Not closing their doors and going out of business? What a crock.

"The city presented evidence that 1 percent of area gun dealers were responsible for 48 percent of gun-related crimes."

Boy what I would give to see that "evidence"

Almost makes me want to become a lawyer so I can go to court and argue against this crap.

Why can't we start suing people for raising criminal children?

Because people are sentient creatures (at least we're supposed to be) and they are responsible for their actions. It's called free will.
