It looks like I'll have to put my plans on hold for a couple of months regarding going west and testing in Arizona and other places. I was supposed to go this month, but now it looks like November will work better. My question to the AZ C/Os: It looks like the department is in a HUGE hiring crunch at the moment, and I'm just wondering if that trend is likely to continue into the winter, and early spring of next year. I'm just worried that I'll mis the boat...

If you miss the boat in AZ just cross the boarder to CA. We won't be over hired until at least 2010.

Why are they quitting? Moving to better things, or...?

Some are moving to the police and some are just sick of Captains bad mouthing them in front of inmates. We have this one female captain who is notorious for it. She was demoted from a Sgt to a officer a few years back for playing checkers with a close custody inmate after lights out. She took him out of his cell and all. We refer to her as "inmate lover"

And, now she's a captain. Your agency sounds like my agency.
