I am currently a Graduate student at CMSU.... I am considering doing an internship this semester....and suggestions what departments I should look into?!?!?!?
My husband is an LEO and works crazy shifts.... so I would need somewhere that would be flexible as far a hours...

It's been a zillion years ago but my brother did one with St. Louis County PD 20 years ago. I think any department with over 20-30 officers probably can hook you up with some kind of intership program, just ask them. Probation and parole agencies both adult and juvenile are always looking for interns as well. I did mine in juvenile corrections when I was in school.

St. Louis County PD takes Interns! Lots of different areas with the county pd to experience while doing your internship.

thats two votes for county! I guess I will work on the application this weekend.... that is a LONG application!! I better get started soon!

I'd say STL County PD, or even City PD. be kind of exciting either way you go. Depends on where you would rather garner your expierience.

St. Louis County is a great department to do your internship with. You will gain some experience. (I know my spelling is not the greatest) But the ultimate desision is up to you on where you want to go. I know some of the muni's (I.E. Florissant, Hazelwood, Chesterfield) May do the same as well. Thanks for everyones help! After lots of consideration I have decided to go ahead and apply at county... not for an internship but for a job :) I was an explorer there for years and have always hoped to work for them.

STLwife, which PCT. were you out of? I was in the North County PCT. between 91-97. I've been called up to serve for a bit. But I can't wait to get back home. I do miss STL...especcially the "Officer you stopped me because...." remarks.

Rather than start a new thread Ill just add on to this one.

I've been planning on doing internship in St. Louis next summer. I know St. Louis County is a good one but does anyone know anything about any of the other 91 munciplaities? I'd expect thered be good competition for st. louis and its always good for a back up plan.

Also I go to school in at Mizzou in columbia. I tried getting on with the Columbia PD but they just stop talking to me for some reason. Are there any other Departments down there other than the Sheriffs Office?
