I'm looking for suggestion, ideas, contacts for getting back into a law enforcement position.

I was a cop in DC. Before becoming a cop, I was a professional in the IT industry for many, many years. I left the field because my true passion is law enforcement. I recently left the force for a variety of reasons. And while I don't miss the department, I miss that field of work very much. I'd like to remain in law enforcement but not necessary a street cop; not sure I want to start that process over again.

I'm in the process of finishing my Bachelor's degree, and with my professional background and skills in IT and law enforcement, I'd like to find an investigative type position. I've looked at federal jobs but most require a degree, or I can't get past the automated resume system. My degree will be in economic crime, but most banks are looking for investigators that already have experience in that specific field.

Suggestions appreciated.

Look into becoming a State Revenue Agent, that seems to fit what you're looking for pretty closely. Many states require that their revenue agents be law enforcement certified. With previous law enforcement experience, and with your degree, you shouldn't have too hard of a time getting a position in that field. You may have to relocate if your state is not one that requires agents to be LE certified. Good luck.
