Did you apply to Flagler Count Sheriffs Office? I applied last month, but because im not a Florida resident and not Florida certified i recieved a letter stating i wasnt being considered. They said i had to move to Florida and transfer my cert and then apply, or that i could be sponsored for corrections. Ive been on the road for awhile, im not doing corrections.

Why the hell would you want to come from Vegas to FL?

My family is there, ive been in Vegas awhile and ready for a slower pace. After working here you can pretty much work anywhere, the people are very unique.

No culture, crappy food, everything's fake, including the people, no place to raise a family, horrible school systems, and now the cost of living is going up.So if your 21yrs old or 65-70 yrs. old, it's somewhat appealing.Anywhere in between, it's just a big dust bowl where they still want to pay you small town wages in most jobs you walk into. Not being negative, just being real.

Yea, FCSO. If you want to come here (FL) to work, pay your way through an academy, take your state test, and apply. You have experience, so you'd obviously get looked at more. You wouldn't work in the jail, unless you applied to be a Corrections Deputy. And about the cost of living out there....it ain't good here either!! I grew up here back in the mid-80s to mid 90s, and just got back here in November. THINGS GOT BIG!! This county is getting, IMO, way too congested! So, your family lives in Flagler County? Or just somewhere around here?!?!

If you worked as a full time cop for more than a year you qualify for an abbreviated process to become certified in Florida called Equivalency of Training/Comparative Compliance. You can become certified while still living out of Florida. First you file paperwork with the state through an assessment center, normally part of one of the area academies, that costs about $175. After getting state approval, you do a two week program with two components at one of the academies. First part testing in practical areas like firearms, second part is review for statewide written exam. Second part costs anywhere from around $400 to $1200 not including meals & lodging. Last part is state exam ($100) which is tough, especially as you're learning it on your own. It's the same test that people graduating from 17 to 20 week academies have to pass. State website is www.fdle.state.fl.us
