Hello,

Recently a lot of guys at work have been telling me that I should apply to the border patrol instead of a PD. Now that I'm wrapping up my AS I'm starting to heavily consider it. I just don't know if it's required to have a Bachelor's or not, all the officers at work say it isn't but I can't find anything relevant on the net? I just keep reading about work experience, which is cool because I've worked at my local PD in a non-sworn position for the last year and a half. Also I'm 20 and a half, don't turn 21 till November, does this also make me inelligible to apply? Thanks in advance to anybody who can answer these questions. . .

I dont know much about broder patrol. Its just how quick you want the process done and if you want to stay local. I hear they send those guys everywhere.

I also heard you have to speak spanish.

hi, I am taking the exam tomorrow. TO answer some questions you dont need to have a bachelors degree, if you do you start out making like a grand more a year. As far as speaking spanish it is not a requirement, you have to pass the artificial language portion of the exam which tests your ability to learn a foriegn language. In the academy which I believe is 18 weeks you learn spanish. you DO have to move to the southwest (texas, arizona, san diego) to start and the transfer time to move back up north is 5 years, but I heard through a cousin who works in immigration they need people up north so the transfer time will be ALOT earlier than you would expect. Well I have to study some more, have my exam tomorrow morning. Wish me Luck
