ATTENTION ALL BOARD MEMEBERS IN MISSOURI, TENNESSEE, KENTUCKY, GEORGIA, OR ANYWHERE THAT’S GREEN
It is official. I am immersed into a mid-life crisis of epic proportions. 22 years of playing cops and robbers. I want a new job, a new view, and a new attitude. I don’t care what it is as long as the pay is fair and I don’t have to wear a uniform and pretend to give a crap about the problem of tweakers and alcoholics in the midst of their drama. I’ve got a strong background in training, investigations, and community corrections and would love to do any of them again. I would love to do something I’ve never even heard of before. I have a bachelor’s degree and am working on a Master’s. My evaluations have always been above standards, I love to work (hyperactive), and I’m back in shape after a fitness hiatus.
I want to see real trees again. Green ones. That are taller than me. I don’t want to have to have an underground sprinkler system to have a lawn. I just want to have to go out and cut the grass and complain because I can’t keep up with it. I want a house I can afford. I don’t want to pay $300,000 for an 1100 sq ft piece o crap sitting on a slab of cement just like the one next door to it.
Please, everyone point out anything you know about or see in your area that I may be interested in. Don’t assume I wouldn’t be interested. If it isn’t patrol, I’m interested. If I’m over qualified, I’m still interested. If I’m under qualified, don’t care, I’ll waste their time with my resume anyway. Lay it on me.
Thank you, and have a nice day :)

Smog people and snow are OK. Just no sagebrush and sand.
And I notice you're from Northern California. Trust me, people from the mid-west and South will understand what I'm talking about.

You can always come up to my neck of the woods...plenty of green, white, and decent temps during the summer!

Literally anything. It doesn't even have to be sworn law enforcement but I'd prefer it. Just something where my skills matter and I can make a decent living. I worked in Retail Loss Prevention Investigations and Community Corrections before going to METRO and enjoyed both of those.
I'm focusing on the Missouri/Tennesse area just because my wife and I grew up in Missouri and have family and fond memories back there. All of our grown children are now in TN or GA as well.

HI Vt. Tried to send you a private message month or so ago and got an error message just for the FYI.
We've been looking up there too. I haven't really seen anything yet except entry level patrol spots and your housing to salary ratio in that neck of the woods is a little scary. We should be pulling some decent equity out of here though. That will help. Let me know if you hear of anything interesting that you don't beat me too though. :) Say howdy to the wife.

Exposing my red-neck a bit here.
Not crazy about the hurrican thing myself, but as a kid sitting on the porch watching the funnel clouds was sport. We always waited to see who would be the first to bolt for the basement. Worst we ever got was lost a section of roof over the kitchen one time.
I'd kill my own kids for doing something so stupid now of course, but like I said in an earlier post, fond memories.

Yeah it was BAD,and we got a double. But check the past history compared to quakes ,floods (check your daily paper today about the northeast),tornadoe alley, etc. No place is safe unless you are smart enough to make it safe(er).I was visiting friend in D.C. when hurricane Isabel hit.Didnt realize it was one ,thought it was an afternoon thunderstorm.

Firearms instructor?
Driving instructor?
Do a google search for Blackwater USA. I hear their instructors start at 66K and usually get a 10K bonus
In Eastern NC. Plenty of pine trees. Plenty of allergies

These are the kinds of leads I'm looking for. Thank you very much. Everybody keep em coming. Remember, I'm very flexible at this point.

Happen to know anything about the Nash County area. Job there I'm exploring. Would have to live within 30 miles of the county line.

Of course if you have USMC, Airborn, SF experience they will beg you to work for them
One risk- When Hillary becomes president, she may pull the plug on the place and have Wal*Mart do all the training in Arkansas

I've been eyeballing the FLETC jobs but nothing in an area I'm certified in and I'm sure all those go to prior Fed service people. Fun to look though. I have dropped a resume on two 1810s. One with treasury and one with OPM. I've also applied for a couple of administrative investigator positions with the State of Missouri. No idea how stiff the competition for all these will be.
I'm toying with the idea of going back into LP if I could find a multi-store level position that would take me for the right salary too.
One I'm sure I could probably get but that scares me a bit is one called "Special Investigator" or something like that with the state of Texas. It appears to be a fancy name for a child abuse investigator and they have an opening 30 miles down the road from my mom and sister in law's which has my wife excited, BUT, I figure any job that pays a grand a month more than most other investigator positions in the same state and pays you a $5000 bonus for every 12 months you stay probably isn't the most pleasant job in the world??????
Taking my time and being picky right now but definately going to find something new.

If you went to Iowa you could use your investigative experience and work insurance fraud, they tend to pay well and you make your own hours. Iowa isn't that far from Missouri and you can have a 1/4 acre with a 2,500 sqr/ft house built the way you like for around $180,000. Friendly people with decent wages.
