Agencies and federal positions that would be reccommended??? I think it would be awesome to work with the FBI or some sort of federal oranization. I really have an issue with the exploitation, abuse, and sale of children. Who specializes in stopping pedophiles and slave traders (lack of better term, but the people that sell kids) into and accross the US? If I understand correctly, the FBI stays within the US? and the CIA investigates outside the US?? If I was wanting to get into that particular branch of LE, what should my steps be as far as education? and as I asked earlier, what different agencies focus on that? thanks everyone... Anyone with any and all info would be appreciated.

The FBI, and CIA simply are not jurisdicted by "in the country" and "out of the country". CIA is an intelligence agency, the FBI is Investivagatory in nature.

The FBI can go anywhere in the world, you can't out run the FBI. Anywhere a crime is commited agaisnt an American, whether on our soil or not, they can investigate, and arrest. They investigated some of the plane hijackers in the middle east during the 1980's, even though there were only 2 americans on board of the plane, and it wasn't on our soil. They actually ended up catching up to one of the terror kingpins, and lured him out to a boat during what he thought was drug negiotiations, arrest him and brought him back to stand trial in the United States.

So in a nut shell, the CIA and FBI are two entirely different entities, both with different objectives, and goals.

Squader, I liked your blinky light better

In answer to the question it really depends on what you want to do. Exactly what squader said about FBI/CIA duties.

You'll spend a lot of your time in either organization reviewing case files and riding a desk as i understand it. At least for the first several years on the job before you get out a little more.

So again, if you want to be the one hands on, police work is probably the best way for you to do this. But if you believe in the saying "the pen is mightier than the sword", you can leave with the satisfaction that you did a good job on the administrative side investigating the incident.

For education, FBI requires a degree. You would probably be better suited to take something related to business, computers, public administration, etc. CJ would be helpful but I could see them exploiting...oops I mean utilizing the others better. CIA I believe requires the same.

Human trafficking in/out of the US for immoral purposes or otherwise is investigated by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Special Agents. So is importation of illegal materials such as child porn.

Education and training requirements vary widely between Federal agencies. The really good news is that quite a few Federal law enforcement agencies are almost always hiring. Officer.com can be a very helpful research tool in determining which Federal agencies do a particular job, what their requirements are, pay, duty locations, etc. Keep in mind that the CIA is not a law enforcement, but an intelligence agency.

Thats one thing about the federal gov., there are tons of different agencies. Everything from the FBI, ICE, boarder patrol, secret service, coast guard investigative service, u.s. park police, fish and wildlife, postal inspectors, ect.. the list could keep on going. So just keep that in mind, there is alot out there.
