HB pays the best but will be very competitive form now on because of that. They are picking up cream of the crop laterals from other PD's right now. They are hiring recruits so go for it. They work 3 12's.

NB pays well too but will have less action then HB and Irvine will be even slower.

All three would be good to work for if you can get on and make it through training. I have several qualified frineds get kicked out of fto training because of the boys club mentality. You better hope they like you.....

Oh and none of them are close to san diego.

Like the above post said none of those are close to San Diego... not even commuting distance close. They are all very competitive.

Ditto on the commute, you can live much closer for the same outrageous amount of rent. I have links to all the OC departments on my site along with hiring info and my academy notes. Feel free to join. FWIW, you will be hard pressed to find an OC department that is not top notch. Some pay better than others but I don't hear OC officers bitchin' about their jobs like some other areas.

Thx eveyone for the info. I am going to start my ride-alongs with all 3 pd's and am looking forward to it. As for living down there, any suggestions on good areas with good schools. I've got a 5 month old but want to make a move and avoid having to move again because of problems in the school district or crime issues.
