Hey Everyone,

I'm currently 3-4 months into the process of applying to the USSS - UD. I was just curious what previous jobs people had before becoming a LEO.

As of right now, I'm 23 and work for one of the big 4 accounting firms in the world, doing information technology auditing.

What is everyone else's career story before following their dreams to be a LEO?

I don't mean to steal you thread or anything, but thought you would probably know the answer to this:
can you apply for the USSS SA position and the USSS UD position at once?

I was a jail guard

I was a sheriff's deputy assigned to a jail for 9 months

That 9 months felt like 9 years

I respect jail guards. I think they deserve a raise and extra vacation time because they have to take orders from inmates and sharpen their pencils

Started as a busboy, in 3-1/2 years became the night manager for a restaurant. Also sold sporting goods, briefly, before joining PD.

If I ever lose my police job, at least I know how to bus tables! :D

Just had a buddy apply to both, at the interview they told him to pick one or the other. The jist he got was, If you do not have a master's or a lot of LE background give up on the SA.

Oh and I worked as a mascot for a AAA baseball team part time in college.

It's interesting to see that a lot of people just became fed up with the corporate or retail world, and became a LEO. I assumed a decent amount of military type figures would also become a LEO. Very interesting though. Thanks for all the responses so far.
