I am a certified police officer in Alabama and planning to visit my family in Mass. I was wondering what are the limitations, if any, for firearms as far as capacity, ammunition barrel size etc. and if I can buy ammo in case I need it.
I am planning to bring a S&W 5903 9mm, glock 22 (both 15 round mags)and mossberg shotgun 12 gauge with 18.5" barrrel.

As a police officer you can carry and have any legal firearms anywhere in the country and can even carry concealed.

Under that new law, does that cover ammo too? Some places, (NJ, for instance), restrict carry ammo, as well. Academic question for me - I am not important enough to be covered by the law, or as one gun shop employee said, "You don't protect the public."

As long as you carry what your qualified with, I can't see any problems.

But I will be there on my time, not my departments time, and I saw that Mass still has restrictions on firearms, unlike here in bama where you can own a howitzer as long as it is not violating federal law.
Did that federal law pass that says all LEO's can carry anywhere? I heard about a year or two ago, but never knew if it passed.

You won't have any problems in Massachusetts with regards to ammunition, magazine capacity, etc.

Yah, they're just ahead of the CT drivers on the dumbass factor. Mitch you're right, I think because CT has just a couple less liberals than MA screwing up the gov....
