Houston Police Department

I am currently in Chicago but I am thinking of taking the Houston police test. Does anyone have any information about the department? The living conditions, pay compared to cost of living? I would appreciate it if I can get as much information as possible.

watch out for floods...and the worts HURRICANES!!! Cost of living isn't that bad I believe. I'm not from Houston but I'm moving to Dallas.

I went there during the superbowl, alot of bad parts but some nice parts also. You will be very busy if you get on. Also the cost of housing is great. You can get alot of house with the money you make or atleast more than alot of other parts of the country. Good luck

My Grandmother used to live in Houston and I couldn't imagine having to wear a vest in that sweltering heat and humidity. It's bad enough in San Diego....one of the reasons I never rotate to days. :p

Maybe it's something you get used to? Ot maybe it's a forced diet plan because I know I'd drop a couple pounds a day, vest or no vest, in that lovely weather. :eek:

Don't quote me on this but I thank HPD is offering a $7000 bonus to new hires. Dallas PD was offering a $10,000. :eek:
