Hello everyone,

Just as a little warning, the streets just got a lot worse!! hehe Or in other words there is another one of those freaken reserves on the street.

My local sheriffs department hired me as a reserve about six months ago, and I just graduated the reserve academy. Woohoo Everyone look out!!!

My full time career is in the fire service; I work as an Advanced EMT/Firefighter. I've been doing that since '98. I've always been interested in law enforcement, but I love my job and wouldn't give it up for anything so the reserves are pretty much the perfect option for me.

Now the standard, I’ve been reading this site for some time now. I love all the great information and wisdom from the guys that have been on the streets for a while. It’s great to read about their experiences; hopefully it will keep us all safe on the street.

Thanks for such a great site!!
Trent

Welcome to the Forums!

What's an Advanced EMT? IV & airways but no drugs?

Thanks for the welcome everyone,

Op13,

An advanced EMT is an Indiana cert. level. It's basically IV's, dynamic cardiology, and more in-depth patient assessment. Most advanced techs work with a paramedic partner, but a few areas have trucks staffed with just two EMT-A's.

nadster011,

I'm a reserve for Kosciusko County; it's up north between Fort Wayne and South Bend. Where are you from? Thanks for the welcome!

BexSoCal,

Good luck with your process, I hope everything goes well for you!

Thank you very much. I'm not worried all that much because I've already had interviews and background checks with this Department for my CCW and for Volunteers In Police Service, so they know me already.

I've never wanted anything as much as this. Sure, i'm from a LE family and back in my home of NYC I was the one that would automatically run after the bad guys if I saw a purse or chain snatched and worked with the cops, testified, etc. to help them get/procesecute the bad guys, but it took a life changing event (my attempted murder) to understand not just the feelings of right and wrong that I hold to be self evident, but to also know that most people don't see the world that way.

To help the community and the people, to give back to the fine men and women that have done so much for me. Well, my choice was obvious and like I said to you earlier, I can't wait to make a post here and say, "YAY! I made it!"

Thanx again for the well wishing :)
~becca
