Canadian Officers

No matter if one is American, Canadian or from another part of the world, serious and inquisitive questions deserve an answers from intelligent, responsible and compasionate officers in this forum. Quite a few American officers have given me and other Canadian WannaBeCoppers a great deal of help and suport on many issues concerning LE. However, it would be a great idea if there was a Canadian section to "Ask an Officer" about Canadian Laws which only Canadian officers would be able to reply.

Wondering how many Canadian officers are members of this forum, who agree with me.

I disagree. To tell the truth, I doubt there would be enough traffic to warrant it's own forum. Title your posts clearly with Canadian somewhere and you should attract the attention of Canadian officers.

True enough. Most questions concerning LE can be answered by any intelligent officer, regardless of where they are located. Just thought there might be enough Canadian officers to warrant this option. However, you should not rule this idea out. You might attract more Canadians to this site if you gave it a bit more thought.

Still curious as to how many Canadian officers are members of this forum?

Would a petition make any difference? lol

If not, does anyone know of any respectable Canadian LE forums that coincide to this one?

I hope you know that my intentions are not to take away from this forum. It's the best one I've had the privilege to be a member of.

I doubt it. Even when a US question is posed, we get comments from Aussie and UK cops. We have and have had forums devoted to smaller groups (take the forums for corrections officers and dispatchers) and frankly, they usually don't fare very well.

This is true regarding ethical Dilemmas, which can be answered by any officer world wide.

However, half of the questions that I would like answered are concerning Canadian Law. Most American LEO's have no idea or cannot be sure when responding to my questions. I understand this. I know they find it difficult to answer questions that deal with American law in other parts of the Country, due to the U.S having so many states, with laws that vary in each and everyone of them.

Actually, if you go to "Introductions" and go back about 60 days, you will find quite a few introductions from your fellow Canucks.

In addition to Wonderwoman (whom I think has the LONGEST-running introduction of anybody on this forum), I recall posts from 3-4 Mounties, a Mountie-to-be, a park ranger from the BC interior and a cop from Manitoba.

There are several other Canadians in this forum like yourself, who aren't in law enforcement but either want to become cops or have a genuine good-hearted interest in it.

Instead of a "Canadians-only" forum, maybe you can convince the moderators to add the Maple Leaf symbol to the Smilies Legend http://www.officer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

The international nature of this forum is one of the reasons I like coming here. If you're successful in "making the cut," you'll find that despite the different laws and different cultures, cops from around the world share the same joys and frustrations.

If you go to Yahoo/msn and search on Canadian Police you should be able to get some options. However, even on this forum if you go into the Personal Pages Canada section you might find some connections for information you want.

Wannabe, just put something of reference to Canada or CDN in the title. As when I'm scanning the list of topics of interest, for instance I always look at anything with a CDN reference in the title. I think that would suffice.

As a previous poster pointed out. By and large, police work, is police work, is police work, no matter where you are. Laws and procedures may vary somewhat, but in the end there are more similarities, than differences.
