Would like to pick the brains of the rank and file, as well as any administrators. One of the biggest issues that we face in LE work is the need for continued training. I along with a couple of other veteran officers are considering building our own training center. We would ultimately like to have ranges, & classrooms. We want to not only focus on tactical skills (ie, shooting), but on topics such as criminal interdiction and patrol techniques, officer survival, and management.
My questions are:
Would your department send you to such a place for training? If so, from how far would you come?
What topics do you think are the most important in on-going training?
To what degree would you go to the training on your own (out of own pocket), if it was a topic or area of interest or need?
Curriculum not wtih standing, if you travelled to such a facility, what would you expect from it? What would be the big factors in deciding to go?
I speak in terms of things like, on-site meals, near-by lodging, security, etc?
Thanks in advance for any and all input. Stay Safe.
