Good to hear that everything is working for you guys. If its possible, can anyone find out if its true they plan on putting another class in? They are getting close to my list number, I think I may make the next class. Stay safe out there.

As of now there are no plans- the latest going around is that the union during talks with TBTA brought up the point of putting a new class in soon and the Authority flat out said no.
There is a lot of talk going around about a lot of spot slashing coming soon, and that will create a lot of extra officers who will basically cover all the spots that are being filled with OT right now.
After the amount of BS that the last class had to deal with (ie-being told at one point that they might be laid off) I think it is going to be a little while before a new class goes in.

No suprises there. My plans of moving to NYC for a peace officer position are being smashed, one by one

I've heard rumors of an early 2010 class, and that it may be the last one off the list.

this is a great job, potential to make ridiculous money, do some LE, but depending where you go, if you want to do law enforcement, this may not be what you are looking for...gbotj, i'm sure you are finding out like i am...

as I said before it depends on where you go.
plainsilver, TS was keeping me updated with what your up to. All I can say is next time a bid comes out put in for where I am. We have free roam as far as LE goes here. So far some crazy stuff has gone on!

Such as what? 3 cars instead of 2 came through at 3AM!
If you guys want to be cops (cashiers on patrol)- transfer to one of the triboro's. What they let go up there in a week is more than what you guys down south will see in 6 months.
G- your a good officer- just stop ****ting yourself and realize that the beach is not a LE oriented facility. You will have a blast at TBX....

if you have no problem collecting tolls 90% of the time, and checking reggies and inspections from the booth then go to TBX/TBM. I will say though that they do a good deal of law enforcement, I've heard a few stories of the type of ***** that goes on up there and even sometimes I find myself saying "damn thats where I shoulda gone"
BUT then I snap back to reality, I havent collected ANY tolls yet since I've been here. Im usually in a rmp, on the plaza, or at a checkpoint. Your right though, my facility isnt LE oriented, but we are treated like adults and we can do what we want as far as enforcement goes.
Maybe when my year is up I'll go to the Q....who knows.

Anything new regarding the next academy, if they plan to have one? The grapevine has been pretty quiet regarding the TBTA.

This entire agency is one big rumor mill. Until it happens, its not worth mentioning it.

I'm on the list for Exam 6091, my list number is 8$$. Last I checked with DCAS they were up to #448.(The list # hasn't change in quit some time, I am starting to lose hope) I want to know if having bad credit will affect me from getting the job and I caught a speeding ticket in NJ last year and now I think I have 2 points will this also affect me as well?
I am so upset this is the second time I take the test, last time (2001) my score was too low 83 so my list # was too high. This time I scored a 89.411 and my list # is 8$$. Any word if there is a freeze or new class?
I called Deborah Wells a couple of months ago but didn't get anything different than what I already know.
Please any info is better than no info!!!!!!

Don't feel bad I took that test and my list number is in the 9##'s.
As far as bad credit, no it will not prevent you from getting the job. Just get your credit report and explain why some items on your report are the way they are but I'm sure your investigator can pretty much get a feel of what type of person you are financially just by viewing your report. I will be honest I did not have the best credit before getting on with PA but before then I have been actively working on my credit since college so in the end it looked a little better on my end.

TBTA does not look at your credit history when considering new hires- and this was one of the most common questions asked during the pre-hire process, and we were told that about 3 times during the process.
2 points on your lic, will also probably not be a big deal. Just be sure to be honest when filling out all of the paperwork regarding your driving history.
The biggest problem- TBTA is not really hiring. The majority of guys on this job have less than 9 years on, very few people are retiring, all of the sgts are new (so the days of sgts retiring en mass are almost over), and the days of a class every three months are unfortunately gone.
