i believe your time rolls over as does any existing time in the pension...but dont quote me that you can ask when you go to orientation

KayWhy
01-26-2008, 03:49 AM
to the first question, there is really no pt but you get baton tactics as well as oc spray tactics/ weapon retention, and handcuffing but for the most part its academic, to the second question i had 28 people in my class 24 graduated to a few will drop out/ fail but its hard to fail if you study for your exams take good notes, come on time and give 100%

Hey Kaywhy really appreciate the info bro, my sis is a bto at the bbt.

My list number is in the 900's so I know TBTA will not get to me for bto until next yr hopefully.

Well there be a problem if I go in the NYPD and TBTA calls? I mean I can resign from NYPD but will they give up my file to TBTA if they ask for it?

I live in the Bronx so Triboro, Whitestone or Throgsneck will be excellent options for me but I would do Triboro since I'm only 3 miles away.

KayWhy

yeah nypd never wants to give up people's files i had a friend in pd auxilary who came to tbta and pd didnt want to give up his paperwork to the investigator which almost prevented him from getting this job, not to mention once your in pd for a year why switch to tbta

Damn, my list is in the low 900s and I'm in Aux pd. Think that'll negatively affect me?

bhavin115
01-26-2008, 06:24 PM
the whole issue with nypd not sharing files is with po's due to the fact that evertime nypd trains you they spend money from their budget so for them to train you for 6 months and lose you to another agency not only hurts their numbers but waste alot of money and in a big city like nyc money is everything.. as far as i know and am also with the nypd but in a another uniformed title besides aux or po you wont have any issue going over to tbta not only that it looks good on the file that you have patrol exp.. i had a co-worker who was in nypd and now works at the qmt so dont worry and get in shape for that run

All that NYPD will do is verify employment. They will say 'Yes, so and so worked with the NYPD from this date to that date as (job title).'

And so another week of waiting starts.................. hopefully this is the week that calls go out...

Nothing today.... hopefully tomorrow.

Well if I understood KayWhy, there will be a letter that is sent first letting you know that you qualify for the job. Im still at work so I haven't check my mail at home.

But in regard to a call, nothing on my end yet. :(

But in regard to a call, nothing on my end yet. :(

Nothing in the mail today for me either. I think that they are squeezed for time now. We are pretty sure that the Academy will be starting in Feb. If it does they will need to notify people soon.

I am prophesizing again, (I was wrong this morning) But I bet that we will get calls first with letters to follow quickly after. If you are in you will get a call then a letter, If you are out you will just get a letter.

I dont mean to second guess KayWhy. It just seems to be different circumstances this time.

Whatever it is, I hope its soon. I am anxious to find out if I made it and to get started.

LEIsMyLife21
01-28-2008, 04:16 PM
Nothing on my end either...For some reason though i feel like the academy will be starting on the 14th...which is what i read on another forum, and from what they say, its the start of a pay period which makes sense...it just doesnt seem right for it to be on the 4th bc that leaves less than a week, and from what Kay said there has to be time in between to get letters and pick up uniforms for the first day...I was looking back on when the last class got the call and it seems to be a thurs...which that would be the last day of the month and gives exactly 2 weeks...i hope these days go by fast and we find something out!!

gw35
01-28-2008, 04:35 PM
At this point I would be happy to know if Im in or not (preferrably in of course). So if we're told now to start on the 14th, or whenever, Ill take that over than just waiting and not knwoing anything. This process has definitely shown and given me patience beyond what I normally am. And this is from someone that has an extreme amount of patience.

Viper2007
01-28-2008, 09:30 PM
If the class starts on the 11th or 14th, I cant see them making calls any later than this Thursday or Friday. I would say that Feb 4th is probably out of the question.

For the guys already on the job... will we have to pay for the uniforms at Park Coats? Or does TBTA pick up the bill?

KayWhy
01-29-2008, 12:41 AM
unlike nypd tbta pays for all of your initial uniforms, thens gives you a decent uniform allowanced every year after your first to buy additional equipment, and replacde old uniforms, about the letter of qualification you recieve that from dcas stating you background is good, then you will recieve a call from mta hr asking if ur still interested then you will recieve a welcome packet with more papers to fill out and bring to academy, by the way the mta police exam is filing until 02/15/08 costs $40, its a good job has good perks except its not civil service so no list number (meaning people who have connections get the job first) and there is no job security here is the link just go to this link and click on police applicants, https://employment.mta.info/psc/hph1/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/ROLE_APPLICANT.ER_VIEW_JOBS.GBL

KayWhy
01-29-2008, 12:45 AM
pros of mta police is 3 12hr tours a week 4 days off, police status, 20 and out, many different locations in the tri state area, ie conneticut, long island, staten island, upstate ny, and they have different depts like nypd ie detectives, canine unit, esu, , this might be good for people with the tbta list number near the 1000"s or up, starting pay is 33,000, top pay is in the 60"s which is more then tbta but probably no ot so tbta will make u more

gbotj
01-29-2008, 10:56 AM
hey KayWhy, what are some of the posts like in TBTA? if your assigned to the plaza, toll booth, or RMP are you assigned there the whole tour or only a few hours.

anyone have any clue as to the time we may have to report for the academy?

It will probably list the reporting time in the packet. BTW I did not get mine today. They must have snail -mailed them.

The first couple of days should be at 2 Bway. I thought I heard that the academy was 7-3 but nobody knows yet how they have structured it yet. Is it 56 at the same time, or is it staggered days (AM and PM)? I guess we will find out soon enough.

Did anyone not get a call that was expecting one? I hope they still have calls to make tomorrow!

Im one that did not get a call although Im in the 80's range - list wise. :(

I spoke to D. Wells over at HR and I was told that I was still pending due to my paper work not coming back from DCAS. I ask if this had to do with the BI and she said it did. What I cant understand is that Ive never been in trouble with the Law in my life, so I dont know what the hold up. Needless to say I wont be in the first class, and since I havent been DQ'fied, Ill possibly be in the 2nd class according to D. Wells.

Anyone from the previous test/class with experience like this can advise me of what to do or say (question wise) please help out. I appreciate the advisement Ive received so far through PM but it would be great to speak to someone that has gone through this before and may know the ropes.

As for the recruits that were called earlier this week, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! and enjoy the academy. Please keep us posted regarding day to day activities but dont neglect your studies. I for one would like to experience it through your words.

She was probably swamped last week, and did not want to give out any info. Everyone was pretty tight lipped about the start date and when the calls were going out and who was in or out. At this point they will probably be more willing to share more info with you like they did with GW.

Good luck, I hope it works out.

In order to make an omelet, you have to break some eggs. If you finished the process and have a list number lower than others who were called I'd think something was wrong.

Unfortunately things have a way of getting messed up. Its not anyones fault, just the way things work out.

gbotj
01-31-2008, 04:13 PM
if you figure theyre putting in 56 recruits they might have to call 60 or 65 because some will pass on the job, and if one person is making all the phone calls and each one is about 2 or 3 minutes each (for argument sake) your looking at a long time making calls. Also to put the paperwork through for each person that says yes or no, and get their document packets ready it could be as much as 10 minutes a person. I'm sure the one person has much more work to do other than make phone calls all day, and it could be very tiring talking on the phone and saying the same thing over and over again. They may have broken it down into a couple days of calls. For 60 people your looking at 3 hours or more worth of non stop phone calls.

I dont know, they may or may not be done calling.

it doesn't say much about the class just to be there at 7:45AM in uniform. Good thing the uniform store is only about 5 min from my house so i'll be going there on sat. to get fitted. Heh, I found it funny that there is a declination letter in the packet as well...don't know who would turn that in now but yeah other than that just 4 other forms to fill out and the firearm waiver form which must be notarized. any other updates i will let you guys know a.s.a.p. as i'm sure the others who got the call will. just stay positive and don't sit back and wait to be called now because you never know if something might have gone wrong.

Neuro the uniforms are the same uniforms NYPD has, the only difference is the brass and the patches obviously. O.K. listen closely guys clean shaven no jewellery showing. ladies and gentlemen no hair touching your collar. Show up in full uniform dont forget your ties and your caps. Your caps are not to be worn inside any building, so when u are going to 2nd broadway the caps come off. Bring duffle bags for the books you are going to get. First three days are boring just lots of talking and dont you dare fall asleep lol. Good luck alll. if any questions ask away now is the time

First three days are boring just lots of talking and dont you dare fall asleep lol. Good luck alll. if any questions ask away now is the time

does clean shaven include no mustache also? just out of curiosity not that I have any problem shaving it off. Also i happen to have a patchless duty jacket do you think it would be a big deal if i were to wear this or should i just go with any old jacket? thanks for the info

I am no ttoo sure since I dont have any facial hair, but I believe the copy of the policy was attached to your uniform policy I believe. So read that, personally though I would shave the mustache off and see what they say at the academy. As far as the jacket you can wear whatever you like since you are not issuad a cadet jacket.

Miro usually yes, but since your class is a double class they might do am and pm, so one will be 7 to 3 and the other one would prob be 3- 11 i am not too sure. One will def be 7am till 3 pm

Thats right. I wonder how they will break it up if thats the case. Seems obvious that the first 28 will be 7 -3 and the rest in 3 - 11. I guess we will find out in a few days.

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site and what brought me to it was the fact that I was looking for info regarding the TBTA academy since I will be starting on the 12th. I read someone's question concerning facial hair. On one of the forms I received it states that officers can wear a goatee and/or beard as long as it adheres to the length standards. If anyone knows of anymore info please feel free to share.

Hey vab, I did a bit of research on processing and TBTA usually sends out packets every 3-4 months and puts classes in every 3 1/2- 4 months. They usually give about 3 weeks from the time you get the packet to orientation so I'm thinking (and as others already pointed out) our packets should be sent out by the end of this month and orientation should be early-mid march.

So if you get anything in the mail, send out a post on the thread, and I'll do the same.

by the way, good luck to everyone tomorrow and I hope you all pass with flying colors.

Not an "east coaster"- but my 2 cents-"goatees" and beards, unless you have a skin condition or its part of your religious life, is B.S. -period- it makes you look tacky,as the image of a police officer is a "Generic" image and the man/woman behind the badge must present that image as they represent the "system" ,not themselves-goatees and beards spell "I'm an individual, not part of something bigger"-clean shaved and -if allowed( Ca academies DON'T allow them) a neat moustache- says PROFESSIONAL. bald shaved or crew cuts ,no micro braids,no pony tails, no guido mullets,no billy idol spikes! If its more important to look "like you" than to represent the gov't -then you will compromise in every other aspect-sloppy uniform ,unshined leather belt( sorry you east coast guys ,but that sam browne is NOt supposed to be " scrape Brown"-polish it/dye it and it will last longer-plus WHAT the heck is wrong with wearing keepers on your belts??? keeps the belt from sliding around like keystone cops!!!)-then rules, regulations, the law ,moral values. Law enforcement is MORE than apaycheck- its a way of life ! and unless the TBTA has undercover and plainclothes work, you Don't need "dredd locks" to prove you ethnic identity-a person is born with that

examples of "squared away" academy looks (although alot "softer" thani%n my day)

Yes, all is certainly quiet from the current academy class.

Since they put in a double class and the academy is only 11 weeks, that means the next (third) class may go in as early as the first week of May.

rtmc, thanks but we dont have investigators yet. We missed the primary orientation and the person I spoke to said (and I think turtle did too) that all we had to do was send the reinstatment letter to HR and we would then be called for the next group.

Turtle, the packets shouldnt go out until the last week of feb (very earliest) but as my friend said at the academy the instructors are saying March for the next orientation, and then May or June (the very latest) for the next class.

well the last letters went to around 280 people but that was for 2 classes, this time its only for one class (28 recruits) and there were a few left over from this group and others who are reinstated so I'd say around 110-120.

ok, ok. gb and turtle it does not matter, HR must report to DCAS whats going on thats why i told you what to do, remember when i told you what happened to me, when you said i was not telling the truth, well the same thing is going on with you guys, HR is not going to tell you whats up. only DCAS can>>>> I can bet that your file is at DCAS with there inv. call 212-669-1357 wait to speak to a live person then ask for certification. remember you must be nice on the phone.

^^ What rtmc said. DCAS handles the background investigation. At it's completion, they send the findings to TBTA HR. TBTA also contracts with some private company for part of the background investigation also... I forget the name of the company.

IF you want an answer, I would do what rtmc said. Chances are, they will only tell you the status with no details... but I'm not 100% sure on that.

seems like i've been waiting forever to get the orientation packet, i can't wait to see if i get one feb/march my list is low 300's so if what i am reading on the forums is right i should be getting it soon and i can move on from my current department.

out of curiosity, has anyone heard if medical has given anyone who has gone through gastric bypass or has had the gastric band procedure a hard time? This is for BTO and any other LEO positions in ny. i have a friend who has had the band done (medically less invasive) and is looking to take LEO exams in ny after he finishes college. but he is worried about a medical disqualification due to the band procedure.

i know alot of people end up having some terrible complications due to these surgeries and i guess if you suffer from them than it can be a problem, but what about people who has them done and are healthy with no complications?

anyway, good luck to all and once you guys start getting orientation packets, let us all know!

Hey GBOTJ,

I am in the running for TBTA also. I got a 88% on the current test. so I say maybe a year or two before they get to me. Do you know the Off-Duty carry rules and regs for their Peace Officers. I know they are issued duty weapons, but I think they have to lock them up at the end of tour. Maybe you or any current TBTA MOS can clarify. With my agengy we are issued and carry 3 different on duty weapons when the position calls for it and off-duty we can carry any automatic or revolver we choose. There is no long waiting period (6 months-1 year) three weeks after the academy when we finish OJT....Is TBTA the same or similar to NYC correctons and NYS Court Officer

NYSJAILER, here is how the off duty carry works with TBTA. You get your firearm at the end of training which can be anywhere from 11 to 13 weeks. You must leave the gun at work in your locker at your facility until your 6th month. So if you were hired on Feb 12th, you won't be able to carry off duty until August 12. After your 6th month, you will be allowed to carry your Glock 19 service weapon off duty. On your 1 year anniversary, you will be allowed to go buy a Glock 26 for off duty carry... I guess they do this because of the 1 year probation period they have you on.

ant, i scored in the low 300's. the first group was made up of the 1st 275 or so eligible candidates which were called, so i am assuming they will call the same amount or candidates for the 2nd group. We have to bear in mind that there are eligible candidates that were certified from that 1st group that were not put in the last academy, nobody seems to know if they will put in another double class at this point, if they don't do another double class, the next class will be less than 30. if that is the case, then there is an excellent chance that the next class will consist of candidates certified from the 1st group. The first certified candidates from this 2nd group going in now will most likely go in the end of summer or fall or possibly even next year depending on how many academy classes they are planning to hold. i thought i read somewhere that tbta usually only holds 3 classes a year but i could be wrong.

when TBA sends out new packets that means that they need a new group of candidates to choose from, most if not all have been past over, choosen not selected or your case is held up at DCAS. you have to remember that they only have a limited number of slots 15 to 30 and subject to the 1 of 3 rule, which mean that out of 3 canidates only 1 gets the job the others are passed over then thy take the next 3 and do the same thing.

technically you can own and carry any firearm you please but you only indemnified (exuse my spelling) with the glock 19 & 26, which means if you get involved in an off duty shooting and its not the 19 or 26 your on your own even if it was an acceptable circumstance, but if its your 19 or 26 then the mta will back you with there lawyers, so after you get approval to purchase more firearms fell free to but a desert eagle just dont use it off duty....and about the pay depending on how long you first year is if its the whole year you "could make" as much as you wanna work, 50k/60k, but the sky is the limit people do 2000 hours ot but thats if you wanna live at work,

Well TBTA mirrors NYSDOC the same way with first year salary $44k with OT 50-60k and we have 7 year step progam to reach top pay. That is something to think about. Me personally owning .50cal ,,,45cal,,,40cal etc is good for you collection but personally I would only carry 9mm compact or .380cal for personal protection, because as you stated is you get into a off-duty situation the investigatiors will question why are you walking around with hand-cannons looking for war.
In state corrections we train and qualify with the S&W .38cal 6shot, but nobody really uses it for off-duty carry. Every Officers off-duty weapon should be for personal protection only and to prevent immienent danger of death or serious pyshical injury to you and/ or any family/friend member in your presense, if you see any other kind of crime happening call the local police and be a great witness of information. In a perfect world as sworn officers we may want to help or stop many crimes, but as many already know your agency might not back you if something goes wrong.

gbotj,

Already checked out their website. They don't have any definitive answers to a choice of insurance carriers or types of plans. Which packet are you referring to, the one for the city or MTA? The MTA application asks for the specific school (technical, college, graduate, etc.). I would mirror both apps to be on the safe side or place the junior high school data on the education part or use the comments part. Be guided by the CPD-B.

Make copies of everything.

Hello All,

Orientation went well. Deborah Wells and the entire staff were very nice, helpful and incredibly professional (much better than some City agencies I have seen). Here are the highlights:

• whole process took about 3 ½ hours
• 200 people were sent pre-employment orientation letters
• we had about 50 applicants at our session at 8:45 am
• someone (applicant) said there was another orientation this afternoon
• most applicants wore business attire

Hal Greenberg (Director of HR) said
1) there will be another orientation next week
2) physical and agility test on March 28
3) they don’t know when the next class will start – around end of April
4) they don’t know if they will be putting one or two classes in the academy, so assume one class of 28 applicants

Hope this helps.

he said the orientations were just split up because of the size of the room. 100 for 8:45am on the 7th and 100 for the 11th. about 50 people showed up. They said we will all be on the same page after orientations so we'll all have the same physicals etc.

Thank you Vab, I'm still going to try and correct it a bit because a buddy of mine told me his friend went through and got hit with a credit check so I just dont want to have waited that long to be jammed up by something so trivial as a couple of debts, the only downside is that I owe a lot of medical and have no insurance so Im trying to get usual outstanding debts out then medical, and i hope theyll understand about the med debts.

yes i believe greenberg mentioned that credit wasn't an issue, but i think one of the pages for our background check that we had to sign basically gives them the power to run one in the fine print. will it matter? i hope not, alot of people make mistakes and i don't think that it necessarily interferes with our moral scope to have a little debt or past debt on our backs in terms of law enforcement, but we will be working with money exchange so who knows...i think it's still a safe bet that credit won't matter because the money and shortages are watched so closely....

At times, orientation felt like a high school assembly. D. Wells did say that the selection process is subject to the 1 in 3 rule. Overheard a few candidates talk about their various collars and saw it on a few more applications. The gentleman in front of me was all of a young age (under 21, his permit had red letters to the same effect) and I saw a stack of court disposition papers for which I assume were for past arrests. I don't think being collared is the end of the world, we in the business known that emotions run high sometimes and self control is lacking. Not an excuse but someone who is young and has gotten in trouble with the law shows a lack of judgment and in my opinion needs to show they can stay out of trouble for a few years and show the maturity necessary to be given a gun and powers of arrest. Heck, there are some people that I have worked with who are older and lack judgment so who knows.

Wow. I think you guys should be more concerned with getting your job and passing all the stages, and not worry about others, most of the people that are not qualified for the job or are not fit for the job will be dq'ed. So just handle your business and stop worrying about other, because one of those people might be covering your @ss and at that point you wont care what he was arrested for as a juvenile or what kinda experience he had prior to this job or what he/she was wearing for the orientation. you dont have to apologize, thats the tricky thing about internet forums. You can type the words but you cant type the way you want them to come across, like tone/pause/expression/ how you phrase it/ or re word it after another person makes a post. I was merely stating this individuals lack of initiative or time invested in the job. I do believe the agency takes note of these things, and although nothing is said things do stick out to them.

but no reason to apologize, I dont think anyone was upset with what you said.

Let’s stop this. Let’s get back to questions about the job and the hiring process.

Has anyone gone to MAC 5 in Coney Island? Is there parking over there? When do they let us know what time we need to be there on the 28th?

gbotj
03-13-2008, 06:45 PM
"gbotj, we are a very passionate on this forum to become LEO's and if this is the only place that you can express your opinion because your certainly not going to call up any agency and express to them how you feel. Then I say it’s fine to let it out here."

when did I say it wasnt? I was posting the same thing as you about the people at the orientation.

I believe there is decent parking down at MAC 5 (thats on ave. X right?), you will not be there for more than 5 minutes. All you do is sign in to security, then go into the mac center sign in at the desk and then sit down for about 1 minute. They then take you into a little room w/ a bathroom and you pee in the cup then initial it, sign a paper and your out the door.

gbotj
03-13-2008, 06:53 PM

MasterMason
03-13-2008, 07:28 PM
gbotj, here we go with not being able to express ourselves properly. I wasn't directing it towards you in that way. I was just stating we should be able to express what we feel here since we are not able to call the agency. Believe me I’m still ****ed the way they handled everything I stated earlier. Even though I never met you and didn’t go to the same orientation as you. I know that both you and I were on time, in a suit and had all of our documentation. I hope that some how helps us both out. By the way thanks for the help.

Yeah, but like I said I think they take note of the people dressed right and prepared IMO.

No problem for the help, if you want to get an actual view of the MAC center just go to local.live.com and type in the address, then go to "birds eye view" and you can get a look at the whole area and where you might want to park.

The mta wants to cut the numner of bto's in the future. Go to the ny daily news site and look up pete donohue's article "Hi tech may put end to mta tolls".

we have a note in our contract which states that guarantees security against automation ie when ez-pass was atablished, which actually created more jobs if anything the tbta will just have a hiring freeze not a layoff , besides it takes a long time for something like that to go into effect, think about it why would they pay to train two classes full of btos just to lay them off, they'll find stuff for us to do

looks like we can't drive in, letter states we can't park on randalls but there will be a shuttle provided. i'm assuming the ones that got this letter passed their p in a cup test...

i went to MAC 1 and it took forever!!!! had a weird procedure where we had to punch our paper in on some clock then put it in a slot that was in the actual testing area...and ofcourse a bus driver had her jacket over the clock so i'm standing there for 5 minutes looking for the damn thing before i finally asked where it was... took me almost 45 minutes to get out. parking was easy at that site, on street meter parking (got a spot right smack in front of the building) and lots of garages in that area...

does anyone actually know what setting up 4 cones entails... do they give us 4 cones to set up in a line or what? Roman can you shed some light?

There are 4 cones set up on the side of the start/finish line; you'll see them when you're on the line to start your run. When you cross the finish line you have to get these cones and place them on top of the box shaped figure painted on the concrete. These boxes are right before the start/finish line and you'll also see them when you step up to the line.

Regardless of how tire you may be but I will suggest to grab 2 cones at a time and just "drop" them on the boxes. You'll see that these cones will feel like heavy weights by the end of your run and by placing them neatly inside these boxes will only waste time, but don't drop them that they tip over and fall because them you have to set it back upright and waste more time.

The cones are part of the the run and have to be done by the 7 1/2 minutes provided.

Good luck to all.

The groups are of 10 and it does not go by list number, at least when I was there back in Dec. Once they have a group of 10 they will take them to different stages. Some may go to the interview first while others are running, trigger pulling etc. Its a crap shoot.

For the run phase, though, they'll have 5 of the 10 run first and then the 2nd 5. For each phase, except the interview, the group of 10 will remain together.

Can you tell use about the stairs? Does two complete circuits mean up two flights of stairs (with landings in between the flights) and then back down?

One last question, is there time to rest in between the 3 fitness tests or are they one right after the other?

The 2 flights of stairs have two landings and you will have to do this a total 4 times. What I mean s go up and down, go back up and back down. The great thing about this stage is that you must hold on to the hand rails (safety first) throughout this stage and this gives you support to pull yourself up those stairs if needed. Also, the top landing must be touch with both feet. When I did the PT back in December, I did the stairs after the run. We had about a 15 min break back in the building and my legs still felt like rubber at the time that we did the stairs. Those hand rails really came in handy.

Depending on the circumstances you will have some time in between each phase more than the other groups. I happened to do the trigger pull first and then waited for about 5 minutes before they took us out to do the run. Once outside, we waited for about 10 - 15 minutes because there was another group of 10 half way done with their run. Now, after the run, with the time it took us to gather up our stuff, walk back to the building, through the entrance, up the stairs, and then being told to wait to see whether we were going to do the interview first or the stairs, that must have been about 25 to 30 minutes total. Another 10 if you include the time it took them to take us to the stairs, told to wait, and then have the purpose and directions explain to us, some questions here and there. Plus, everything is done by list number, so if you have a low list number you get to go first in everything except for the interview. That part was pretty much a crap shoot IMO.

hello all,

just wanted to say good luck to all candidates hope all do well. one word of advice, DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE STAIRS, is tougher than it sounds and it took down quite a bit of candidates last class..... you can skip steps on way up and down, just be mindful they are looking for you to do this in as safe a manner as possible. give it your all in the run, it is more challenging if you havent run in a while. dont just sit around and wait for the PAT to roll around, go out and jog to get your stamina up. and practice the trigger pull by holding a quart or half gallon of milk straight out.... if you can do this for a minute straight witout your arms shaking, your ok. also it takes strenght to actually pull the trigger its self. i saw people get dq jus for not being able to pull trigger... just some friendly advice...

goodluck;)
