Anyone see these article in the D&C this morning for no more state sales tax:

http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060329/NEWS01/603290340

Also on no income tax on the first $75,000:

This could really turn the area around.

The one about sales tax, sure, I'll buy that.

The one on income tax was made by a (longshot) Gov. candidate. I'd chalk that one up to no more than another empty campaign pledge.

The State sales tax I will buy also..but the income tax will never change.

However, the county's will still collect their sales tax and probaly even try to raise it since it will only be 3-4% now.

yea it is election year --- the ads have already started.

now if that were to happen the no income tax on the first 75 it would be interesting but the state would have to make the money up somewhere???

would that be one of the old we will lower your tax but jack up state fees tricks????

typical politicians
that said upstate ny needs more help than a income tax break could or would provide. and givin NY's history of change and reform well, lets just say do not hold your breath. ;)

while upstate trys and to figure out how to stop the bleeding you can bet more and more people are headed elsewhere.... was talking to a MCC official and they project more than half of this years grads will be in another state before the ink onthe diplomas is dry.

The only thing to keep rochester afloat is wegmans and that fact that rochester has MCC, U of R and RIT. I don't think Rochester will become Flint Michigan but it won't be as great as it was.

it would be nice for so lot of people exspecialy the low in come people on food stamps and stuff that might be enough to get them off of it and the other state aid things.. so i think in the long run it would benefit the state

thats just my opinion.but i dont think it would happen either as for the sales tax they would make that up some where.like raise the taxes on otherstuff and on the businesses so they in turn would raise prices.it would be just a visious circle

thats if wegmans stays local forever....

they have had buyout offers before and turned them all down

from harris teeters and krogers among others....

you can never say never but in the business world someday the dollar amount is going to be right and wegmans may not be exclusively local anymore.
