Hey all -

Just a few questions hopefully someone can answer these....

First off, I have heard a rumor on the Missouri POST testing that if you have been through military police training i.e. "tech school" that you can substitute that for the academy to be able to take the POST test. I don't know if that's true and was hoping for some verification on here. Also if that is true which POST test would I be taking? Class A, Class B etc....

Next question is more of a two part question. Reserve Officer in Greene County states you can apply for a "volunteer" postion. I was wondering if they get paid while on duty? I know some departments still pay there reserve officers and others do not. Also how do you apply within the department? The website did not state much information on this only to express that they pull from there reserver officer allotment, and that they hire certified officers which in turn is why I would be taking the POST test. I'm hoping only to become a reserve officer though because I would like to move up to a bigger academy and was thinking more of a part-time job and to get some experience with in the LEO field. I'm currently in the Air Force Reserves as Security Forces which is just like a Army MP!

Anyhow thanks in advance,

In a word no, If you have been through a Federal Law Enforcement Acadaemy that counts MP training does not unless they have changed the rules again just lately. Call Missouri POST, I have called them with other questions, and the answers often depend on who you talk to. Good luck.

Greene county uses Reserves that have completed class A POST training. They also have a Officer training school with Drury University. The Reserve Officer is an unpaid job, with no less than 30 hours a month. The Best info I can give you is to call 417-868-4040 and ask for Chief Arnott who is the chief deputy or Captain Randy Gibson, who is the chief of patrol. Both of these men are open to your calls and will give you the low down. I would also say that Greene county is a great agency to work for with a lot of really good people in command and on the street.

I found out I can take the POST test with my military school because it's an accredited POST certification academy! I'll call but I don't know about POST A b/c all deputys have to be POST B or better. Again though I'll at least give them a call and find out the total scoop.

Thanks again.
