A Wyoming County man who shot and wounded two law enforcement officers Wednesday night surrendered after a 12-hour standoff with police in the town of Bennington near Attica.
Police say Joseph Cordier, 30, surrendered to police without incident after a S.W.A.T. team fired gas into his Sierk Road home.
Cordier called police Wednesday around 6p.m. and said he was going to hurt himself. When Attica Police Officer Andy Houghton and Wyoming County Sheriff Sergeant Greg Rudolph responded, Cordier shot at them. Houghton was hit in the leg and Rudolph was hit in the shoulder and the face. Houghton then pulled Rudolph behind a car for cover and called for help.
Cordier stayed in the house and held police at bay for hours.
