POSITION: Police Chief
LOCATION: Clayton, NC
SALARY: $59,874-$88,884
DUTIES:
Clayton, 20 miles east of Raleigh, seeks candidates for the position of police chief. This position reports directly to the town manager and is responsible for organizing, directing, and coordinating the divisions within the police department, which is made up of 41 full-time employees.
REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with other department directors. This position will lead all facets of the police department including crime prevention and criminal investigations, budgeting, career development training, community relations and personal administration. Excellent verbal and written skills are essential. The candidate must have a 4-year degree, preferably in criminal justice or related field, must be a NC-certified law enforcement officer, and must have substantial experience as law enforcement professional including at least 5 years of direct, progressive law enforcement managerial experience.
