I didn't know where to post this, so I posted in this section and the Hiring Process section....

I recently had my panel interview for the Supreme Court PD. When they asked me if I have ever been arrested, I told them yes, for underage drinking in high school(twice). My dad told me I was an idiot for telling them that b/c I didn't actually get arrested. All that happened was they took me in the station and let me go shortly thereafter(I did mention this fact in the interview). I'm applying to other federal agencies and state police depts. I was trying to make my application info to all agencies uniform, but I plan on telling the other agencies I apply to that I have never gotten arrested. Now, can all these agencies look into the information I give other agencies during the application process? I don't want to look like a liar. This and the fact that I tried shrooms once when I was 16 makes me nervous about getting DQ'd. Should I call the Supreme Court back and tell them I gave them a false answer about the arrests?

Call and ask them. Im sure they will find out anyway if they do a good investigation. Explain everything you can, its your job on the line. It will not hurt to tell them. Especially drinking in HS. Its bad but as long as it was in hs maybe they look past it, but they will definatly question you about it either way. Good luck

I think your father is the idiot here. All it shows is honesty from your side.

I know you're trying to offer advice, but no need for that.

Were you taken down to the station, released to your parents, and did you receive any type of citation?

Again, sorry for double-posting all of this.

No handcuffs, no fingerprints, no court appearances, wasn't put behind bars or anything. My dad knocked me around a little bit though, but he got me out of it so I guess it was worth it. I don't really remember if any paperwork or citation was written up or anything, but if it was, it was immediately thrown out.

FYI, I'm also applying to the FAMs, Capitol Police, NJ and PA state police, and I might try for Secret Service(I'm thinking the USSS will DQ me off the bat). I could see all the federal sharing info, but would they also share it with the state police depts? I'm guessing it would come up in a good background investigation regardless of it being at the federal, state, or local level.

So do you think I should omit or include these run-ins when asked if I have ever been ARRESTED?

He called you an idiot, I just reflected his comments. Keep it honest.

Definately include it. Like I said all it does is to show honesty to the BI.
