How long to wait?

I really want to become a police officer however, my driving record is not so great. I have a speeding ticket in 2002, 2003, and two tickets in 2005, I also got in a minor accident in 2005. (no police called) I have since taken and passed a defensive driving course and have had three points taken off my driving record. My speeding tickets were for going 5-10 over on a highway. I have never had my license suspended or revoked, and no DUIs. The rest of my background is very good. So I was just looking for some feedback on how much time I should let go by to make my driving record accepetable to most large city police agencies? Thanks!

I would think a year or two. Just call the recruiting office or background investigator for some of the agencies you are interested in. They can tell you what their particular hiring standards are, so as not to waste your time and theirs.
