Hi! I am graduating from CSU Fresno this spring, and I am looking for a summer job in CA. A little bit about myself- I have my degree in Criminology with an option in law enforcement, a certificiate in victimology, a gpa of 3.86, and I have been doing an internship for the past year with the Secret Service. I'll be going to grad school in the fall, which is why I only need a summer job. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for agencies that either have paid interns or would be willing to take someone for the summer. I was thinking of doing loss prevention somewhere, but I have a feeling that no one will hire me for such a short period of time. Does anyone have any suggestions??

You might want to give this a try:

I think Clovis is one of the better employers in the area. (Plus there aren't that many bad neighborhoods). They always have part-time, temporary, permanent positions available. Plus they pay pretty well.

See if the Department of California State Parks hires seasonal park rangers. I don't see anything wrong with checking out bikinis all summer.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm actually looking for something in So Cal because I live in San Bernardino county over the summers. I checked with the park service and nothing in California. I'm going to keep checking with them though because their jobs seem pretty interesting.

Hey,

Dont forget about the Beach Patrol. I dont know too much about it in So Cal but we have Water Patrol here that has some volunteer positions. It is something worth checking out and it is a good foot in the door.

It gets you backgrounded which is a very important step in the process. You can also make a name for yourself and get a recommendation from someone who matters. Although it sounds like you are already heading in the right direction just stay out of trouble and make smart decisions.

Good Luck
