I've decided to take the advice of a number of you here and hold off on posting more questions.

I came to Ask A Cop because I had sincere questions about what happened to me the night I was arrested, and about how you officers do your jobs. I've been upfront about my arrest and honest in my story. I want to thank those of you who gave informative and helpful answers to my recent string of questions. Although everything isn't laid to rest in my mind, I have indeed learned a lot. My favorite response was from the guy who said something like, "These questions remind me that, since I've been out of acedemy, I've forgotten how naive civilians are about what goes on in police work." I got the feeling that he would keep that in mind when dealing with the public in appropriate situations in the future. I hope that others of you might do so, too.

To those of you who gave funny responses - yeah, I already knew there were some real characters here from reading posts on other forums over the past months. A sense of humor probably helps pass the time in the patrol car. One guy even said somewhere, "Humor relaxes the public."

To those of you who used your posts on Ask A Cop to beat my butt ... well, I've learned things about police officers from you, too.

There is, of course, more to my case than I can go into here. If you knew more about the urine and HGN tests, and the other guy's white-ringed nostrils, you wouldn't hate me - well, not quite SO much, anyway. ;) :D

And don't think I've resisted listening to what you've said. Yeah, some of you have had a grand time being mean, but I'm too old to get snookered into petty insults back and forth. (For that, you have your playtime with XP. ) I HAVE listened to what all of you have said, ugly words or not, and digested it. I am coming away with a better understanding of drunk drivng, impaired driving, responsibility, etc. Last week on my night out with friends - two margueritas and lots of Mexican food - I walked to the restaurant. Trade-off: Walk at night past our local dealers and muggers (yes, they're here), or chance "I'm OK to drive" when perhaps I might not be. See? Your remarks didn't fall on deaf ears. :) And hopefully other people reading this will get the message, too. That's the whole point of my being open about what happened.

The Ask A Cop response I disliked the most was from the guy who said, "Why bother making your story pubic? People already know not to drink and drive, and they do it anyway." I disliked that response - because he's right. And that's sad.

So, I've pretty much gotten most of what I came to Ask A Cop for, and now's a good time to bug out. I won't be leaving - I've been reading here for quite a while, and I really like some of the threads. But I'll prolly give you guys a break and stop pestering you with questions - at least for the time being. Maybe I'll go back and hound the EMT's some more - they haven't heard from me in a while. :D

Thank you all for your time, responses, and enlightenment.

Now, for those so inclined ... There's the "Reply" button .... GO!

You got to admire that post.

And I'm one of the guys who posted a smart-alec reply about why we don't give some notice before handcuffing someone. I don't know anything about you Chools, but I like that post.

Good luck to you.

First off, if anyones responses seemed hostile (like mine), then you have no one to blame but yourself. Most of us cops can tell, amazingly even through written text, when someone is lying- or at the very least not being completely forthcoming with the truth.

When our "BS" detector goes off, we- well I, automatically go into a more confrontational mode. Because I'm one of those cops that can tolerate almost anything. YOu can cuss me, threaten me, call me and my mother dirty names. But the one thing I really despise is dishonesty- especially when it's to the point of insulting my intelligence. I worked a felony once where the perp, rather than lying, said "I'm not telling you a damn thing". I actually had a twisted form of respect for him that area. At least he wasn't BSing me.

My point is, many questions that civilians have about the law and procedure are very circumstancial. And if we don't have all the facts, we can't give you a proper answer. If you wanted to know why they did 'X', and didn't tell us that may have done 'Y' then we can't give you an answer that is more acurate to what your going through. Let me put it like this:

Joe blow: Why did the police officer pull me out of my car and beat me and handcuff me and take me to jail when he pulled me over for speeding?

Now, what Joe didn't tell us was the fact that he was wanted for murder and ran from the police. And when he asks that question just like I wrote it, how do you expect us to give him an honest response?

Thanks for the candor in your post. I hope you learned much- I also hoped you learned more from your time in jail.

You didn't need to start a new thread to tell us that. You could have just stopped. ;)

You are so bad; go stand in the corner for about a month or two.

Take a cab, a few drinks is not something to get robbed for!

Choo loo lools

WE love questions from non-LEOs, but seeing as most of us suffer from ADD and have sarcastic steaks that run in over-drive.

You'll find that accountability is always going to be an issue with us. If you can admit to F'ing up and ask a legitimate question (after making an attempt to answer it yourself with common sense) we'll be more than happy to help you, or anyone else, out.

We are also a descriptive bunch, so if you can describe things like your footwear, or what designer makes your purse, it will be that much more interesting for us!! j/k!!!!

So, you don't have to leave, and if you have been lurking around and amusing yourself that's great. Just try and ask your question on 5 sentences, otherwise the energy expended to read it will earn you one snarky remark.

Good luck with your impaired and make us proud by pleading guilty.
