I'm in my secong faze of FTO at this time, and I've just taken part in my first DUI investigation the other night. I did the Walk and Turn, One Leg Stand and Finger Point. Of course, my instructions to the individual were not smooth but I got throught it.
As good as out departments DUI officer is, I'd like to learn other DUI officers techniques.
So, can any DUI guys tell me how they begin their excercises and what they say to the individual?
Thanks..

All I can tell you is, try to stick to the standardized instructions as closely as possible. You'll develop your own style with DUI's over time. There's alot to remember and it takes a few times before your instructions really start to "flow."

Practice, practice , practice. Practice on your significant other. If you and your buddies are out drinking practice on them (I wouldn't do it in the bar though)
After you do a few, it all flows together.

My department gave us a little yellow book with the exact instructions of the standardized field sobriety tests. The pages also had places where you could circle or check what the person did wrong. I used that book for a while until I got more confident and familiar.
