I was wondering how many other departments require you
To record information after you have completed your stop (Contact)
Ie. Reason for the stop. Ethnicity and gender. did you search. Cite or warning given.

My department implemented this awhile back.

We started doing it just after the NJSP racial profiling garbage hit the rags. What this makes me do is monitor my own stops and try to write more tickets to white folks than minorities. This is after all what they intended isn't it?

Yup, we do it as well because of some stupid racial profiling study. I think the entire state is doing it. Verbal warnings are a thing of the past at my department. :mad:

From what I understand, this is a requirement, Federal Law, that is tied to Federal Monies...i.e., you don't do it, you don't get the money...

They require it to keep us Po-Po from stopping people at night whom may be the opposite color of me. People I know are the opposite color, 100' away, at midnight, that are good church going people that happen to have stuff in their car that was left by someone they do not know.

The tools that are found in their car, also are not theirs and have magically appeared...
