Have you guys seen the website speedtrap.org? This is great. LMAO :D You can search any state. People post the areas they feel are speed traps. I love it, the village I work for is listed with a few spots. The best part is some of the places are just good places to stop and work on paperwork. Hey if the public thinks its a speed trap then great. I can't wait to get back to work. I don't want to let people down. Maybe I will try to start a new spot that can be placed on the website. Any thoughts about your city. Are you listed on the site?

I like to go on those sites and post bogus info.

Kind of a hobby for me.

Yeah I've been there and found it quite funny. I actually posted some info about the areas where we have had quite a few accidents. I know it wont help but thought it couldn't hurt.

Anybody else wonder why they think some areas are speedtraps? One area in my town that two people said is a speedtrap there is not even a place for me to sit and run radar. How is that a speedtrap?

Anyway, there is also a page out there somewhere on roadblocks as well. Doesn't really matter though because we post in the newspaper where are roadblocks will be a day in advance. Doesn't seem to help though, we still get plenty of drunks.

Only way to catch ace drivers like them is through subterfuge and deception. So, it had to have been a speedtrap.

Well, I failed at my mission to help add to the posted speed traps in my town. On the other hand there may be some new posts for some new speed trap areas in my town since I did add to the ticket count. :D

My department is listed there three times. One I know has to be me because it talks about the officer writing "fix it tickets". Hey, you have a messed up car and wanna give me PC for a stop, I'll take it. :D

My department is listed once BUT referred to with our neighbors to the west. Tool said cops hide in black cars and follow you to the neighboring juris. {Mine}
There were 2 replies saying "They dont use black but BLUE"
they cant even get it right...

I Certainly agree with "TommyF" if you want to be comfortable on roads just follow the traffic rules this will help you for your safety. I was basically a rash driver who never care about the traffic rules, what i came to know from my experiences is that you need to respect cops on road and your wife at home . One of the place where you can find information about the traffic lights is trapster (http://www.trapster.com). It provides you with useful information regarding the road traps, alerts about traps set by cops and moreover keeps you on the right side of the law. It will give you all the necessary information that you want. You just need to login. If you find anything interesting thing in your visits, do share with me.

My city has quite a few listed there.......all areas where I work radar Its pretty funny to read the idiotic comments and see their thoughts. These poor people cant actually be responsible for their own actions and driving 15+mph over the limit....it must be the evil police trapping them.

some assclown posted one about my town. We've got a highway coming in where the speed limit drops from 55 to 45 to 35. Of course, ahead of all the speed limit changes are GIANT signs that say 'reduced speed ahead'. This dude writes this sob story about how he had come through the neighboring town, and happened to see a 'beautiful roadside park' off to the side while he was in between towns. he was gazing at this beautiful park long enough that somehow he didn't see the 'reduced speed ahead' sign, or the 45mph limit sign, OR the 35mph limit sign and got picked up by the 'stern chief of police' for doing 60 in a 35. Funniest part is, there AREN'T any parks between the towns. Just 1 residential street coming off the highway, the rest is just completely tree-lined.

Someone posted about the cops in my town writing for three over the limit... Hard to believe that would stand up. I don't even know of any cop that will write for under at least 5... most won't write until 15 over.

The Chief replied to that comment saying "If anyone can show me a ticket for +3, I"ll buy them lunch and Jimmy's." It's a nice restaurant. :D

I wonder if anyone has taken him up on that...

People just post ignorant junk on that website..... there's a post about a pot that I work in my city and someone posted that we cite for 1mph over the limit. None of us that work that spot start writing until 15 over...... some people just like to be drama queens and stir the pot

No mention of my town... I must admit I'm a little disappointed.

I'm quite surprised actually, as we have quite the reputation around here amongst the college students. We even have a transit system that hires students to drive the buses. They tell all the new hires that we'll stop the bus and cite the driver if they are even going 1mph over.

I don't know a single officer that has ever stopped a bus... but its funny seeing how terrified they are of us. One wouldn't even make eye contact with me while I was working a detail and had to stop traffic.
