I was wondering what everyones department policy is on military drill. My department is requiring me to go to military drill on my off days, and then refuses to give me time off to compensate for the days off that I lost due to military drill. I have heard that most departments are really accomadating to their military reserve officers. I have also heard that some departments not only give their military guys the days off, but they also pay them to go to military drill. Anyone who has any information on their department policy, I would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

The law states that they must allow you the time off from work to perform drill on the dates the unit has orders for (ie the drill date list provided by your unit). They are not required to match your pay while you are gone and are not required to give you any "military leave with pay". If they do not allow you the time off or punish you for attending the drill, you should contact the office of Ombudsman (sp) through the department of Labor. They'll work it out, by reminding your agency that if they fail to comply with the law, all federal money provided the agency in grants can (and have been in the past) recalled at once. Hope that helps.

FEDERAL LAW states that they have to give you the time off. If they refuse, then let your Company commander know, then the DOD should get involved

By law they are required to let you attend military training sessions. No law requires them to pay you for your drill time though. As for the scheduling and days off that is at their discretion. My agency doesn
