Ok, so im really interested in joining on at the kansas city police dept. I have a clean record except for 2 speeding tickets(one was 2 yrs old, the other about 5 yrs old). I am 25 yrs old. I am trained (with personal) pistols, rifles, shotguns - no problem. I graduated from college and have been working as an electrical engineer. I know that may/may not sound like the thing i should do, but its very boring to me. I have little to no people interaction with that job, and i really want the people interaction. I also WANT to see that I am helping my community. I have tested into Mensa, and can bench press 255 on a weight machine 9 times. I can run a mile in 7 minutes. I have no idea what their agility training requires as a minimum. I have trained in wrestling, bushidokan, and kyusho-jitsu. I also have a CPR certification.
So do you think they would let me join, and go through the academy in kansas city?? what do they look for??
thanks for the advice!

It seems to me that you have a great shot at it. You have to remember, they are not just going to let you join, you have to demonstrate and prove that you are the one that wants, has a strong desire, and is the right fit for the for the job. Here's a website that will help you in the oral interview: http://www.ecjtc.com/THE%20ORAL%20INTERVIEW.htm
Print this out and study it to get some pointers.

Your first step besides giving us your profile is applying and not giving us your whole life story!!!!!!!!!!

"My name is DQ Heathen, and I'm a werewolf axe-murderer (night and weekends only) who only dreams about being a cop 24 hours a day since my latest release from rehab. I'm currently in the process of having my record for instrumental rape expunged (she had it coming, I SWEAR), and I managed to get a bankruptcy in before the federal deadline in October 2005 (I think this will show creativity and intitiative to the oral board). Although I don't drive a car because the doctors say it would be unsafe (hah! HEADSHRINKERS, y'know?), I think I would make an excellent patrol agent deputy officer guy.
"I really really really want to be a CSI Officer on the K9 team. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE GUNS, and carry them with me everywhere I go. I think this will help me in the firearms portion of training. I am unavailable for nights or weekends because of a scheduling conflict. What are my chances? Do you have any advice...?" :D
